Yep my bets on (a) lessons will be learned - it's such a cringy, meaningless phrase I don't know how anyone with any sincerity use it.

GerryblewuptheER · 10/01/2019 16:05

And don't forget " more robust screening "

We can play 'we fucked up bingo'.

Lessons learned
Background screening
Reporting processes
Transphobia
Processes reviewed

You're missing my all-time favourite - which is always said after each incident of child abuse/murder/grooming - "this must never happen again."

Knicknackpaddyflak · 10/01/2019 16:12

Nothing I can see on Green Party Twitter feed yet

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 10/01/2019 16:13

Where is it supposedly to be posted?

Freespeecher · 10/01/2019 16:15

Might I add 'moving forward/ moving on' to the bingo card.

Knicknackpaddyflak · 10/01/2019 16:15

Along with the always present points from every serious case review, Vicky:

  • people in positions of responsibility were afraid to ask difficult questions

  • the focus was on protecting the relationships and feelings of the adults involved instead of carrying out core responsibilities.

ReflectentMonatomism · 10/01/2019 16:15

Where is it supposedly to be posted?

"in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying ‘Beware of the Leopard"

ZuttZeVootEeeVro · 10/01/2019 16:16

I can't see it on the greens website either.

tubspreciousthings · 10/01/2019 16:17

I was naively hoping that this report might be the beginning of the backlash against self-id and the connection to safeguarding...

GrimSisters · 10/01/2019 16:18

Can't see it here either.

From the Green Party:

Publication
It is expected that the recommendations of the report will be published in some form. The client will decide (in consultation with Verita) the precise form of publication.

GerryblewuptheER · 10/01/2019 16:20

I'd have thought they would he throwing it in our faces witg 2 fingers up at us at the earliest opportunity.

EverardDigby · 10/01/2019 16:20

I haven't seen any sign of the report yet, but there is a (privately) named person (well, she has identified herself) who has been suspended from the Party, so at least one head has rolled.

DeRigueurMortis · 10/01/2019 16:30

Holding off publication until after the evening news perhaps?

Popchyk · 10/01/2019 16:35

I wonder if the Green Party ever consider that their constant inability to stick to their own defined deadlines might actually reflect poorly on them as a political party.

This report was supposed to be published in November last year.

It makes them look like they can't even do the absolute basics.

Remember the "Green Party had no knowledge of this" statement that was issued after Challenor was sentenced? Which was quickly deleted when some of their own members gleefully took to social media to contradict it.

Bunch of idiots at every single level.

EverardDigby · 10/01/2019 16:41

Bunch of idiots at every single level.

But look how scared many of the women on Mumsnet are of saying the wrong thing and it impacting on our jobs and families. I'm not saying that what happened wasn't wrong, but I'm not sure how many of us could look at ourselves and say that we would have stood up against the trans lobby and their shouty supporters either. Most people in the Party are volunteers - of course there should be safeguarding processes and it's not good if these weren't followed - but all of us are fallible under the sort of pressure and fear and sheer unreality that we are experiencing in this climate, I think it's important to not divide people any more but identify that this is a common problem and we need to work together to sort it out.

Popchyk · 10/01/2019 16:47

I'm really don't think that most of the Greens involved in this were fearful.

They were the ones who were helping the Challenors to get an injunction against Andy Healey. Some senior Greens were involved in putting together "evidence" for the Challenors.

There's a difference between not standing up to bullies and actively doing their dirty work for them.

DeRigueurMortis · 10/01/2019 16:47

Ever I see what you're saying but a) a political party that allows a climate where members cannot speak freely and feel scared to voice their opinions is a very bad thing b) it wasn't just about people not speaking up. Party members knew what was going on and suppressed the information allegedly - it was seeming more important to safeguard an ideology and a single person who represented it than address a very serious issue.

LangCleg · 10/01/2019 16:47

of course there should be safeguarding processes and it's not good if these weren't followed

But that's the whole point of having them. It protects everyone, including volunteers being bullied by a shouty lobby.

There is no place to hide for the Greens. And no sympathy deserved.

EverardDigby · 10/01/2019 16:49

I think though that the people withholding information were on the TRA lobby side, not sure yet whether it actually reached others - but I guess we should find out soon.
