Presumably they can do what they like. But as questions will be asked, in public and very loudly, them not answering them will not be a good look.

VickyEadie · 10/01/2019 17:58

Come on - somebody's going to leak the whole thing at some point, surely?

ReflectentMonatomism · 10/01/2019 18:01

Oh, and to show the state of Green politicians, here's their "Home Affairs spokesperson" this morning on twitter: "No ordinary day. 1. @TheGreenParty to announce to members long awaited @VeritaUK report into #Challenor & #safeguarding."

If someone fancies the lols, perhaps ask him about that.

Or perhaps not bother, as silence is eloquent.

DeRigueurMortis · 10/01/2019 18:06

Personally I think their credibility (such as it is) requires nothing less than full publication.

However we are dealing with a party where one of the co-leaders (Ms Berry) was alleged on SM of a major twitter clean up (on one specific topic - guess which) after this scandal broke.

As a former GP Mayoral candidate she's part of an archived twitter account that logs any deletions....

DeRigueurMortis · 10/01/2019 18:10

Shahrar Ali imho is one of the Greens to come out of this with some dignity.

He called for the scope to of the enquiry to be broadened to include the disciplinary process where former members claim it had been abused - and got a lot of flak for doing so.

You can't say he's GC by any means but neither does he seem to have drunk the kool aid.

Qcng · 10/01/2019 18:10

Surely the Freedom of Information Act can help here?

sackrifice · 10/01/2019 18:11

Come on - somebody's going to leak the whole thing at some point, surely?

Someone will hopefully leak both versions.

ReflectentMonatomism · 10/01/2019 18:14

Surely the Freedom of Information Act can help here?

Of course it can't. That applies to government bodies and things funded by the government. The Green Party are (rightly) no more subject to the FoIA than your diary is.

ReflectentMonatomism · 10/01/2019 18:15

He called for the scope to of the enquiry to be broadened

So what? As a senior member of the party he is dissembling on Twitter about a publication that hasn't happened.

DeRigueurMortis · 10/01/2019 18:21

I'm not sure how you can categorise that tweet as dissembling tbh...maybe I've missed something?

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 10/01/2019 18:41

We have to keep the pressure on for this to be published and hope that perhaps a mainstream journalist might be interested too. I will be calling them tomorrow.

ProfessoressWoland · 10/01/2019 18:59

I wonder if the Green Party ever consider that their constant inability to stick to their own defined deadlines might actually reflect poorly on them as a political party.
This report was supposed to be published in November last year.
It makes them look like they can't even do the absolute basics.
Remember the "Green Party had no knowledge of this" statement that was issued after Challenor was sentenced? Which was quickly deleted when some of their own members gleefully took to social media to contradict it.

To be fair, they have acted swiftly when a member has committed the heinous crime of misgendering.
Perhaps they're hoping to bury the bad news in the turmoil of the Brexit vote next week.

ReflectentMonatomism · 10/01/2019 19:05

Announcing the publication of a report that is not published is what, then? Bants?

Thanks Hedgehog!

HedgehogPoo · 10/01/2019 19:39

There is another report that's held within the GP but we will have to wait until it's leaked.

DisappearingFish · 10/01/2019 19:42

Interesting reading. I guess the GP will use this in a disciplinary process now with AC?

Although their processes and policies are shockingly lax. And it doesn't touch on the wider culture in the Party.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 10/01/2019 19:43

Skipped through will read fully later. AC has autism them?

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 10/01/2019 19:44

I see that it’s just disappointing that Aimee did things and we do understand how difficult her position was...repeat ad Finitum.

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 10/01/2019 19:45

And the real person to blame is a woman.

DeRigueurMortis · 10/01/2019 19:46

I thought it a fair review tbh, but the narrow scope of the enquiry is very evident is the report.

A question that wasn't asked or answered was how was such a young and vulnerable person allowed to gain a national spokesperson position within a few years of membership?

R0wantrees · 10/01/2019 19:49

Aimee Challenor has been very influential as a TRA, in the Green Party, within Stonewall, in controlling social media and influencing policies.

The portrayal of Aimee Challenor within the report is at odds with this.

KataraJean · 10/01/2019 19:51

That point is glossed over DeRiguer in the emphasis that this was done for diversity reasons. The report raises many questions and sees the safe guarding problems, but - possibly rightly- sees these as going beyond AC herself. AC is not exonerated but it is framed as bad decisions due to inexperience, difficult circumstances and autism.

I do not like how autism is brought up here, my DS is autistic and so very much rule bound, whereas this seems a disregard for rules. An autistic person is an individual and must make judgements same as everyone else, particularly if they are in a position of office.

That said, I have only skim read it.

Bowlofbabelfish · 10/01/2019 19:52

That’s as sanitised and apologetic a report as I’ve ever seen. Poor poor Aimee, difficult time, very hard for her, poor thing, excuses excuses.

No difficult questions asked. No one held to account

Let’s hope someone leaks the rest.
