Basically the Daily Mail printed an article on children buying hormones online and growing breasts

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6448105/British-children-buy-sex-hormone-medication-foreign-sites-no-questions-asked.html

The article includes a caption saying

"Mermaids, a charity supporting transgender children, said the drugs ‘can subject a young person to distressing bodily changes that can lead to an increased risk of anxiety, depression, self-harm and suicidal ideas’ "

Mermaids have demanded a correction to say that it is in fact their position that NOT giving children these drugs can cause these effects.

In other words, the Daily Mail had Mermaids as being sane & reasonable when they are in fact batshit crazy.

The possible side-effects of all drugs are a matter of record.
This includes the medications used as 'puberty blockers' as well as the different forms of cross-sex hormones.

There is though an absence of long-term studies.

It did not read right first time round - as if Mermaids were deliberately obscuring their views to avoid criticism.

Who knows how it happened. Perhaps the journalist coul;d not believe their approach to giving drugs to children so corrected it.
