They've gone.

Well spotted Floral- Is this our New Year’s pressy or just a tease?

userschmoozer · 31/12/2018 12:42

I wonder if MNHQ will make a statement.

starcrossedseahorse · 31/12/2018 12:43

Let's hope that MN have seen sense. Maybe they will un-ban Posie next?

WhereYouLeftIt · 31/12/2018 12:49

Watching with interest.

Badstyley · 31/12/2018 12:59

I wouldn’t get too excited. Just because the rules aren’t explicit, doesn’t mean you won’t get the ban hammer if you break them. Stealth censorship I recon.

They’ll either be back, and even more restrictive, or we’ll be tiptoeing through a minefield of unwritten rules with snipers watching from all angles.

Call me a synical old cow but the world hasn’t shown me any reason not to be yet.

terryleather · 31/12/2018 13:02

I'd like to be proved wrong but I have a bad feeling about this...

ErrolTheDragon · 31/12/2018 13:06

I reckon they should pin the general guidelines (which have a link to the trans-specific page) since so many new posters seem oblivious to those.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 31/12/2018 13:09

I’ve noticed loads of posts recently that refer to men as, well men, that would previously have been deleted but have been left to stand (could be because they haven’t been reported of course).

I wonder if MNHQ are considering a new strategy?

frogintheTyne · 31/12/2018 13:55

I'm hoping there will be a New Year Amnesty...

...and all Missing in Action sisters will be back.

ErrolTheDragon · 31/12/2018 14:02

One can hope that behind the scenes someone's bluff has been called. I wouldn't expect MNHQ to tell us if that had happened, would likely be counterproductive.

womanformallyknownaswoman · 31/12/2018 14:14

Maybe it’s a belated Y2K bug invoked at change of new year 🐜

TrashPanda · 31/12/2018 14:18

MNHQ said on the other thread they still apply but the pin expired, they will consider pinning again if it's helpful.

VickyEadie · 31/12/2018 14:19

I like to imagine Justine, after a few Xmas gins, just saying "Oh, fuck it all!..."

ErrolTheDragon · 31/12/2018 14:22

Maybe they should pin the normal guidelines to AIBU before worrying about FWR! And they could put the acronym list on the Newbies board.

FloralBunting · 31/12/2018 14:24

I've actually quite enjoyed pointing GFs to them in recent times in a spirit of goose and gander.

Hello everyone - just to clarify that the Talk Guidelines do still apply! The pin on the thread in question had expired but we may consider re-pinning if MNers find it useful.

FloralBunting · 31/12/2018 14:53

Yes, I didn't for a minute think the guidelines wouldn't apply anymore, I was just curious. As I've said, I've actually enjoyed AWAs getting their knickers in a twist in recent weeks because they've discovered that their little totalitarian tantrum inconvenienced them as much as us.

Purplewithgreenspots · 01/01/2019 07:38

I think its important for something for newbies to look at. Its a bit much to say ‘ooh you broke the rules’ ‘which rules?’ ‘Those ones we hid’

ErrolTheDragon · 01/01/2019 08:26

It's many years since I registered, don't people get some clue as to the existence of the rules (the normal ones) when they register? Of course, few people ever actually read the terms and conditions when they sign up to something. The guidelines aren't exactly hidden but (pins apart) they're a small font link right at the bottom of the page where you won't see them unless you scroll right down. Not optimally 'discoverable', perhaps.
