Have the MNHQ talk guidelines been removed?

Usually they are pinned at the top of this board but they aren’t visible to me any more.

Have they been removed?

Hmmm Interesting.

Wonder if they are being reviewed. Probably going to be more restrictive than before if anything

NotTerfNorCis · 31/12/2018 11:08

Hey yes I noticed that, just this morning. Could be a technical thing - maybe the thread had a limited lifespan, expiring at the end of year.

happydappy2 · 31/12/2018 11:20

Maybe reality is winning, men can never be women, they can be transwomen, therefore it is not impolite to refer to someone born male as a trans woman.

ILoveMaxiBondi · 31/12/2018 11:24

www.mumsnet.com/info/netiquette

They’re still there. It says “last updated an hour ago”

I’m not sure what has changed though.

ILoveMaxiBondi · 31/12/2018 11:25

Odd. Now it says “last updated 34 minutes ago” when a few minutes ago it said an hour.

howonearthdidwegethere · 31/12/2018 11:26

No, I mean the guidelines specifically relating to the FWR board.

Naive fool I am, I imagined this represented an emboldened MNHQ after reading about the updated EHRC guidance.

But let’s see!

Ahh ok. Sorry.

PencilsInSpace · 31/12/2018 11:30

Interesting. The url is still live:

BoreOfWhabylon · 31/12/2018 11:34

Hi @MNHQ. Can you shed some light on this please?

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet · 31/12/2018 14:15

Hello everyone - just to clarify that the talk guidelines still apply .

It looks like the pin has expired on the thread in question - if you find it useful, we could consider re-pinning.

Katvonbatshit · 31/12/2018 14:18

I think it has been useful actually. Mumsnet has been brave and I think the guidelines (although sometimes frustrating ) are good overall.

LangCleg · 31/12/2018 14:29

You should probably re-pin it, Becky. You hold FWR to higher and different standards than the rest of the site and it would be helpful for all newbies - whichever end they're arguing from - to be aware of that from the get-go.

BettyDuMonde · 31/12/2018 14:41

If they still stand, it makes sense to list them in a prominent place.

BoreOfWhabylon · 31/12/2018 15:08

Thanks Becky. I agree that it is useful to have them pinned.

ErrolTheDragon · 31/12/2018 15:16

I'm neutral on this as I mainly use the app which is pinnless, and it's easy enough to search for the guidelines if you want to refer to them. I'd suggest that they might be improved by including a link to the standard set www.mumsnet.com/info/netiquette for the benefit of new posters who may not have taken on board basic etiquette such as 'no deliberately inflammatory behaviour'.

Funkyfunkybeat12 · 31/12/2018 15:21

Those ‘new ECHR guidelines’ are not a real thing though, right? It’s just some random twitter account spouting off- no change to the law at all. The ECHR is an international treaty which allows a margin of appreciation for member states. The single sex exemptions are contained in the Equality Act, which the European Court of Human Rights would not make declarations about.

Plus why on earth would any guidance re service providers making exemptions to provide single sex services affect what you can say on mumsnet?

YetAnotherSpartacus · 31/12/2018 15:24

I never understood them in the first place.

womanformallyknownaswoman · 31/12/2018 16:17

I wonder if we can add some eg whatever you do don’t mention the P word - clues:

someone who irrespective of Ruth, exploits & uses others -

someone who pretends to be a believer but who doesn’t pray in good faith

JoanneMumsnet · 31/12/2018 17:39

@BoreOfWhabylon

Thanks Becky. I agree that it is useful to have them pinned.

Thanks, all - we've re-pinned them at the top of Feminism Chat.
