Apparently Twitters stock plummeted 20% recently - probably because of all their BS censorship.

Let's make them see that their misogyny is going to cost them even more money. I think they might be willing to listen now. Some people on twitter are organizing an adverser boycott - it's so simple here's how it works.

If you want to protest about Twitter sexism copy and paste this message whenever you see a “promoted content” tweet from one of their advertisers. Then proceed to mute whichever company has paid for the Tweet. Muting is more effective than blocking because this way the advertisers can see the message

Account muted in protest at @twitter censoring women who speak up for women’s rights. #TwitterCensorship #Twitterlosingwomen

What say ye wimminz? Let's show them we mean business!

I have started doing this but don't get many promoted tweets anyway!!

winecigsandchoc · 30/12/2018 20:43

Ooh I like this!

DJLippy · 30/12/2018 20:43

It's a really neat idea so simple to do! You need to keep remembering. It's strange but since I went on a blitz earlier today my "promoted content" tweets have dipped down to zero. I think Twitter might be on to me!

Thanks for the instructions and the copy and paste message.

I was a bit unsure. Now going through all the promoted messages on my Twitter feed.

Spiderpants · 30/12/2018 20:53

I have joined in on twitter

MsMcWoodle · 30/12/2018 21:01

If you look on the left hand side of the screen my 'who to follow' list always seems to include at least one Promoted twitterer.
They're all getting it.

GenderIsAPrison · 30/12/2018 21:09

I don’t see other replies doing the same thing though.

Where are we all?

madvixen · 30/12/2018 21:14

Search the hashtags and you'll see others joining in. I've just gone through all the replies on one of the promoted ads on my timeline and they're all muting.

purplebutterflybiscuits · 30/12/2018 22:25

I would like to try this but am not good with twitter. I have worked out how to mute, but how do you do the message part?

GenderIsAPrison · 30/12/2018 22:37

I think you just write a ‘reply ‘ in the normal way, then proceed to mute.

DJLippy · 30/12/2018 23:12

@purplebutterflybiscuits You message first in the comments section and then you mute - hope this helps!

Yes, Thanks GenderIsAPrison and DJLippy!

OVAgroundWOMBlingfree · 30/12/2018 23:19

I’ll be doing this going forward.
May I suggest you alter the text slightly so you don’t get caught out for spamming.

LaundryLaundryLaundry · 31/12/2018 07:37

I'm not joining the boycott but this has given me the push I needed to delete my personal account. I had another anonymous one I used for GC commenting but even posting anonymously was stressing me out so I've shut that one down too. I rarely used my personal account through fear of being doxxed for my views but did follow a few GC people with it, which would seem to be enough to put me onto a block list. Twitter would do well to ban accounts that use block lists. The fact that people feel the need to use them means the platform isn't working. It's toxic. As my DP says, "everyone's taking, nobody's listening." Just about sums it up.

MsMcWoodle · 01/01/2019 03:03

Well a lot of people seemed to have doing this but they all seem to have been shadowbanned in some new way that doesn't show up on the shadowban tester. The companies will have been muted but probably won't know that they have or why we are doing it.
I'm going to email some of them.

Koalablue · 01/01/2019 06:05

I state doing this a few weeks ago and now get no promoted content.

MnerXX · 01/01/2019 10:12

I have written it on a couple of promoted tweets this morning

GenderIsAPrison · 02/01/2019 16:52

So I had just gone in and started doing this for all the new ‘promoted’ messages on my Twitter feed, after doing this numerous times, my account was limited...apparently due to unusual activity or breaking Twitter rules.

I had to login again on the web version to unlock the account. I carried on replying and muting, after about 3 times, Twitter blocked me! I unblocked it by verifying my phone number and code.

Anyone else had this happening to their Twitter account?

Is this Another attempt by Twitter to discipline and control?

Mner2019 · 03/01/2019 07:30

I used slightly different wording each time as suggested above...

Vixxxy · 03/01/2019 12:58

Probably the amount of people they have banned, the new rules are just ridiculous and tbh, like 50% of posts on the platform break the rules in some way. Interesting how it seems to be only feminists they apply to though. Rape threats, death threats, doxxing etc are all fine and dandy, but god forbid you know the difference between men and women, or 'misgender' someone whos pronouns are bloody unknown anyway. Seen a few people banned for posting about that pedophile dude..and because they said 'he' its a rule break, however he uses his male name anyway, with the female name after it.

I stopped using twitter months back..too many idiots and the arguments with TRAs just pissed me off as it was the same nonsensical rubbish constantly, along with the usual threats.
