DD is having a bit of a low - she's hormonal worried about exams and getting a job and is feeling a bit overwhelmed.

I want to make her a little notebook with good quotes in it, not stupid "inspirational" ones, actual powerful stuff from women that makes us think "we can do this"...

deeds not words - Women's Social and Political Union

I do not follow trails of candy. I am the candy - Shonda Rhimes

I am a woman phenomenally, phenomenal woman that is your grandmother, that is your mother, that is your sister, that is you and that is me - Maya Angelou

The truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off. - Gloria Steinem

“I have a brain and a uterus, and I use both.” – Patricia Schroeder, member of Congress

“The only jobs for which no man is qualified are human incubators and wet nurse. Likewise, the only job for which no woman is or can be qualified is sperm donor.” – Wilma Scott Heide

Got any to add?

I don't know who Shonda Rimes is or what it means.

I really don't like the "women are phenomenal" stuff. No they aren't- they are no more or less phenomenal than any other living creature. Some women do amazing things but this quote, for me, is generic and meaningless not inspirational.

The last one is the best by a long way- it is true without playing up either victimhood or phenomenalness (? don't think that is a word).

If you think taking care of yourself is selfish, change your mind. If you don’t, you’re simply ducking your responsibilities

If you just set out to be liked, you would be prepared to compromise on anything at any time, and you would achieve nothing Margaret Thatcher.

A man told me that for a woman, I was very opinionated. I said, ‘For a man, you’re kind of ignorant |Anne Hathaway

Of course I am not worried about intimidating men. The type of man who will be intimidated by me is exactly the type of man I have no interest in— Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
