I'm really conflicted. On one hand it doesnt prevent a rape and im not sure inflicting pain on rapists is the best idea as it might make them even more angry. On the other hand, if lots of women in war zones or places with high incidence of rape used these maybe it would make rapists think twice.
What do you think?

I would be concerned that it would be the woman who was arrested for using that. Terrible that women feel they need to use these to protect themselves.

This is really old. In 2005 a South African company named Rape-X had supposedly developed a protoype of an anti-rape device. Nothing more was heard of it after the initial flurry of publicity.
Now suddenly we have a similar device being developed by a company called Rape-Axe; this time, they're crowdfunding for the money to market it.
