Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Pleasantly surprised by present from DH

Having "become" a feminist this year (when younger, I thought I didn't need to be one, as things were now equal Hmm) after spending time lurking on FWR, I have been discussing various issues with DH.

I encouraged him to do the GRA consultation and he was very busy with work at the time but agreed to do the FPFW "one-click" version.

I have generally had the impression that he slightly humours me because he doesn't realise (a) how sexist the world still is, and (b) how much of a threat to women transgender ideology is.

However, this year, instead of buying each other presents, we decided to donate £100 each to charity on behalf of the other person (as we are both very picky and prefer to choose our own stuff). I chose Save The Children as we are lucky to have added another child to our family this year (I "bought" a midwife kit, a set of things for a newborn, and a food parcel to feed a family for a month).

Imagine how pleased and surprised I was to open my card and find out DH had donated his £100 to FPFW! He really does take it seriously, and knew it was important to me. Just wanted to share with everyone here Smile.

Once they see it, they get it, don’t they? DH has started pointing out things on TV that are problematic and commenting on news articles.

All the stuff in the papers about Martina Navratilova etc has woken my DH too. He has commented that the cheating in sport is so blatantly unfair, and also has said how awful it is that “under the radar” trans people are being made to suffer because of the actions of some militant ones.

This is going to be totally outing to anyone who knows me (very few) but I realised yesterday that my OH totally understands my GC stance when he presented me with a character I collect in a dress. This took considerable effort on his part.

Well done Mr donajimena also then.
