Bad science

I've long been concerned about the effects of bad science in medicine and its impact in how we treat people.

This interest started long before trans was even on my radar, and I started looking into it in areas of woman's health.

It became apparent to me that women's health was particularly badly affected by bad science because ideological beliefs with regard to women's health were a lot more common and widely held and to a much stronger degree than in other areas of healthcare.

'Evidence led healthcare' is sadly frighteningly scarce and we place too much trust in what we are told without examining it more closely.

Of course when it comes to the trans issue and the culture that has grown up around it, there is a dangerous mix of ideology and bad science. To the point that is utterly alarming. Politics and science should not mix. Its the germination tank of eugenics.

Anyway this article has been shared on another thread and its very much deserving of its own thread. Its lengthy and detailed.

It raises huge questions about the consistency, methodology and ommision from studies. To the point that you have to ask how many are worth the paper they are written on. It's utterly appalling.

The quality of research is very clearly tragedically low.

Anyone who genuinely cares about someone trans should look at this with utter horror. It's scandalous in its own right. And we do not know where its headed as its still ongoing and spiralling unchecked from proper scientific reflection due to the politics surrounding the subject.

Excellent article by a detransitioner. Takes some concentration but worth it. I was particularly struck by this (my bold):

The trans industry’s insistence and hype that AYA-GD are constantly on the brink of transphobia-related suicide at rates that far exceed those of other highly relevant populations is a shameful social engineering strategy to keep society’s focus preferentially on transgenderism–perhaps to cast themselves as visionary pioneers in the field. I don’t think it will turn out that way for the clinicians: history will not absolve them.

I hope history won't absolve anyone responsible for what these kids will be going through. So much for being on the 'rights side of history'.

Right side, not rights side. Tut.

Thanks for the title - I'll definitely use that the describe elements of all this in the future. (Eg twaw.)

The article is extremely good, I've already got it in my saved pile.
