The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below,
When, what to our wondering eyes showed so gladly
But the women of LAWS, and Sandy Draws Badly.

Visiting DS in the US and staying in a dated suburban Hilton, with a Norman Rockwell feel.

A large guy with a loud voice spent 10 minutes being obnoxious to the serving staff, ending with "....that song Feed the World keeps going through my head". The two women with him are wearing Christmas pyjamas and furry slippers.

Most other guests seem both on their own and very elderly. Room rates dropped a lot since we booked so I guess a room with full buffet breakfast becomes a Christmas treat.

That said, waffles and jelly donuts is a good way to start any Chistmas. And perhaps DS will have worked magic producing turkey and trimmings in his student accommodation.

A very happy Christmas to all you wonderful women: to those who post, those who lurk and those who are no longer allowed to post, though I acknowledge the debt we owe Mumsnet for allowing us the relative freedom of this forum.

I've found it a challenging year, but it's been leavened by FWR's wit, wisdom, sisterhood and by the many Mumsnetters I've met in the flesh this year.

Sparkles and mince pies to all - and carols to those who love them (I'm looking at you, FloralBunting).

I too appreciate the fact that MN has allowed the debate to continue when practically nowhere else has, but shit. Who realised before all this that the world we live in is so deeply toxic and misogynist that women being allowed to not-quite-freely discuss issues that pertain to OUR oppression, OUR vulnerability and marginalisation would be such a big deal, so difficult to obtain, here in the UK in 2018? We’ve certainly woken up to a lot in the last few years, not just the misogyny of “trans rights” activists.

Here’s to many more women (and male allies) waking up in 2019. And solidarity with those women already being adversely affected by the way TRA ideology is being implemented: women incarcerated in prisons with biologically male persons, or locked in with them on psych wards, women being thrown out of refuges/hostels for not being willing to share with a male person, etc. ✊🏻
