I'm impressed by this handy tip from Jack Appleby on Twitter.
A plea: Stop saying "gender". Everybody just stop. Every time you see or hear the word swap it for "sex stereotypes". Reject the word. It's meaningless. It's doing untold damage and we simply don't need it. Use "sex stereotypes" instead and everything becomes clear.
"The sex stereotype pay gap err I mean the sex pay gap obviously"
"My sex stereotype identity errr I mean umm..." (^Ed: "you mean your identity is based on sexist stereotypes") "Well... goes red, rages, explodes"
"Sex stereotype violence err I mean male violence of course"
If everyone started doing this it would clear up a lot of confusion.
