Yes listen to the man everyone! Hmm

Bubonicpanic · 22/12/2018 10:29

Oh dear, and yet again all they can manage is spectrum, intersex and be nice to the poor men and their precious identity.

userschmoozer · 22/12/2018 10:29

If your 'feminism' removes rights from women that they already have then its not feminism. Its something else, so go find a new name for it.

frazzled1 · 22/12/2018 10:38

..Karen White, the trans woman who while living as a man raped women, and then amid transition was sent to a women’s prison where she sexually assaulted female inmates.

Rapist Karen White is male and used KW's penis to rape.

Mariotta · 22/12/2018 11:03

I can't even be arsed to read it, honestly. I already know just to say do fuck off, Patrick.

Sigh.

sackrifice · 22/12/2018 11:04

Feminism.

Now the most popular 'ism', thanks to men using it to bring more attention to themselves and to remove rights of women and girls.

Of course the 'ism's' that they are actually demonstrating are narcissism and meninism.

ChewyLouie · 22/12/2018 11:20

Cycle path and now meninism 😀
Meninism- just need some academics to pipe up about how transphobic men are if they don’t include trans women. The clue is in the name- me, men,me, men ....
Feminism- for females.

Feminism centres women and girls. The actual cunty ones. The end.

Correct.

HamiltonCork · 22/12/2018 12:12

I couldn’t be arsed reading it. It will be the usual word salad interspersed with why can’t women be nicer/know there place.

My feminism is about women - the cunty variety.

terryleather · 22/12/2018 12:22

I really wish those like PS would get it through their stupidass PoMo-Queer theory-addled-woke-heids Vicky, it's beyond tiresome now..

ChewyLouie · 22/12/2018 12:29

Femenism!

Bubonicpanic · 22/12/2018 12:29

I think the academic believers must be panicking about the shaky ground their research is on.

If people are openly laughing at the ridiculousness of it they can't be too happy.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 22/12/2018 12:29

I dunno who the fuck Patrick Strudwick is (literally. I also figuratively don't know who the fuck he is to tell women about feminism).

I googled him and the top hit was this thread, so things aren't going so well for Patrick on the internet right now.

I mean lecturing women about feminism makes him look like a total prick, I wouldn't want that to be the first internet hit about me.

WTFIsAGleepglorp · 22/12/2018 12:32

Behold a man has arrived to mansplain feminism.

HamiltonCork · 22/12/2018 12:34

Oh yes, a man telling women what to think, feel and do isn’t exactly novel. How fucking arrogant!

terryleather · 22/12/2018 12:38

It'll be like water off a duck's back, Bernard .

Like his pal at The Guardian LOJ, PS identifies as right on this subject (right as in correct, not right politically obvs).

That's all any of the rest of us need to know and we should all be amending our wrongthink accordingly.

He can get tae fuck.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 22/12/2018 12:39

I haven't managed to get very far

So far have hit this:

"Their arguments, set against the wider conversation about trans and women’s rights,"

Trans rights come ahead of womens rights in a supposed article about feminism

And then this

"Any feminist worth his or her salt should be advocating for the most marginalised"

Only? Or as well as?
There is always someone in the world more worse off than you.
This is the arguement made to feminists that feminism should be about "equality for everyone" and focussing on things that, say, impact women in the UK shuould not be the primary concern as long as someone (male) somewhere is having a bad time.

Mariotta · 22/12/2018 12:42

I think the academic believers must be panicking about the shaky ground their research is on.

Yes. They made up a ridiculous ideology. And now it's meeting the brick wall of reality and they're struggling to retrofit. And only they can't see it.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 22/12/2018 12:43

"My own research area is violence against women and girls, and we know that trans women are more vulnerable to violence, harassment, and everyday abuse than other groups of women".

I would like to understand more about this in the UK. While I agree that gender nonconforming people (both men and women) get a shitload of abuse, I'd like to understand:

How this works with self ID (men ID as women but dont' really bother with anything else apart from maybe wear a bit of nailvarnish) - are they really at massive risk?
How the absolute deluge of stories in the press every day about women being brutally murdered works with this > in the last couple of weeks I've read of a pregnant woman being shot in the stomach with a crossbow, an arrest over a little girl being raped and murdered, and a woman tortured and murdered by a man who got 3 years for it. Those are just the stories that I remember as they were so upsetting, there were many more. I think statements that any man who declares himself a woman is automatically at extreme risk of violence is debatable? And minimises the atrocities committed against women every day.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 22/12/2018 12:45

Oh lol

"sex, which they (feminists) argue is entirely biological"

I'd have thought it was biologists who "argue" this?
Or, observe it?

But NO the fact that mammals come in two sexes that are both required for reproduction etc etc is a TERF CONSTRUCT.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 22/12/2018 12:47

Oh wow then it does go on to assert that humans (and therefore presumably all other mammals) are NOT sexually dimorphic but it's all a bit complicated and we dont' understand it yet.

Essentially anyone who thinks sperm + egg = baby is a bit stupid and backward.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 22/12/2018 12:48

"If at birth it is clear the baby is intersex (perhaps because their genitals are ambiguous), a doctor decides which sex the infant should be called, or which sex that baby should be moulded into. "

Not true these days in the countries they are talking about (UK / USA).

After decades of work by intersex people.

Who are being misrepresented and approrpiated.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 22/12/2018 12:52

"“The goal,” she said, referring to feminism throughout history, “was always to say that biology was not destiny because that was precisely the argument that people used to keep women in private spaces: that women with their ‘smaller brains’ were ‘prone to fainting’ and are not fit to be in public spaces, such as politics and the workplace.”"

Total rewrite of why women need some spaces to be man free.

This one came from teh USA and has been propagated quite nicely.

Letting men into our bogs and sports and prisons and hospital wards and so on is essential for the feminist movement. They only exist because women are seen as weak. Women are strong, therefore should prove it by taking their clothes off in front of men they don't know...
