If you (like me) don't really understand how Tumblr functions this is a good place to start.

What do you think? Has Tumblr contributed to the rise in child-on-child sexual assaults? Is it better that porn is kept on 'softer' platforms like Tumblr? Does this ban drive people into more extreme sites like Pornhub? Do we need to have a talk about the affects of pornography on society?

All the porn industry needs to do to end all of the controversy is start an Adults Only Tumblr.
But they wont.
Putting it on a site aimed at children is indefensible. But they wont start their own.

Pornhub didn't used to be considered extreme. If its gone that way it reflects a general move towards extreme, violent porn.

Insisting porn has to be on moms and pops and kids sites to keep it soft is like sitting the disruptive boy next to the quietest girl in the class. It doesn't teach him anything and it harms her education and experience of school.

Indeed.

I don't for one moment believe that keeping porn on tumblr would keep anyone from accessing "worse" porn somewhere else. (I don't want to know what the allegedly soft porn on tumblr is, I don't think I would consider it so very soft)
