Santa.....gender neutral?

I was visiting my dear fil today when I noticed an article in his paper. I didn’t want to ignore him by reading the whole thing, but the gist was that Santa should be rebranded, either as a woman or ”GENDER NEUTRAL!! I was a bit taken back by this, as Santa, or “Saint Nicholas”*, as he was originally based on was male!!
My daughter who was visiting with me said that this is just the tip of the iceberg as all the toilets at the local school now are gender neutral. She had also read an item suggesting that all children should be treated the same with boys being educated on starting their “periods.” Apparently it will make it easier for any children, who decide that they wish to identify with being the other sex, to change their gender! Whilst I am all for woman’s rights I cannot understand how this is right? Boys do not have periods, just as girls do not have willys. What next, should all children dress the same until they decide what sex they wish to be?
AIBU to suggest that ”political correctness” has gone mad?

Made up nonsense.

HestiaParthenos · 17/12/2018 16:55

You are new to the feminist boards, aren't you?

Welcome, and YANBU.

Though I wouldn't consider the genderist nonsense "political correctness" - it is quite different from people being a bit too enthusiastic about, say, being against racism.

Welcome to insanity. The poor childen at your daughter’s school

I do wonder if some of those men are identifying as women so they can get out of conscription in the next war. I bet there will be no pandering then.

BlueJay1 · 17/12/2018 17:09

Father Christmas is and will always be a male, in my view and in this house 😊.

All for boys and girls both being educated about periods ... not incase someone wants to change their gender, just because it's important human life info. Everyone should know what happens. I once dated a boy when I was 16 / 17 .. he thought girls have periods all the time, are always bleeding. This was 11 years ago. Hope the education system has improved !! But doubt it.

Not happy about mixed toilets in school at all. Would be complaining to the school about that.

MIdgebabe · 17/12/2018 17:36

SO HOW does the school indicate which pupils should seek medical attention if they don’t get a period by the time they are 16?

HestiaParthenos · 17/12/2018 17:37

I am not much of a fan of Father Christmas.

There's St. Nicholas, and he visits on the 6th of December. (Did you know St. Nicholas was anti prostitution and pro Nordic Model? According to at least one myth he gave some girls money so they wouldn't have to become prostitutes)

I do wonder if some of those men are identifying as women so they can get out of conscription in the next war. I bet there will be no pandering then.

I don't think so.
They'll have confused everyone so much by then that governments will just send everyone to the front lines. And it will be women who suffer for it.

They won't make things any better for themselves, just worse for women.
(Well, that is, apart from the rapists who profit directly from access to women's spaces.)

Transwomen who don't molest women don't profit from this self-Id nonsense at all, seeing as they will continue to be attacked by men - whether that happens in male spaces or in the women's spaces that males are now allowed to invade doesn't make much of a difference.

HestiaParthenos · 17/12/2018 17:38

SO HOW does the school indicate which pupils should seek medical attention if they don’t get a period by the time they are 16?

Seeing as those pupils where it would be a sign of a medical problem to not have gotten a period at 16 are female, and the whole gendernonsense is an exercise in misogyny, I don't think they care about that.

This isn't political correctness.

Chucky16 · 17/12/2018 17:51

Bluejay my daughter has sent me the link to the article. Not just about periods but that all genders can have them.

Just noticed ...

What next, should all children dress the same until they decide what sex they wish to be?

Why would you dress children any differently depending on which sex they are? Hmm

Re the article about Santa. Try not to play into the hands of the intentionally divisive media.

Try not to play into the hands of the intentionally divisive media.

Well, there's quite a lot of things that make me much angrier than people wanting to change Santa's gender identity.

And also a lot of things that make me much angrier than schools teaching that boys get periods, but it is all part of the problem.

I don't think the media are being divisive. They just try to get an attention-grabbing, seasonal headline.

As mentioned above, I don't care much about Santa. I read somewere that Italy has a witch who brings the presents. I'd be perfectly fine with replacing Santa with her.

Babushka rocks if we’re going to look for a female alternative to Santa. But then so does Mrs SantaXmas Smile
