Mermaids given £500,000 by National Lottery (Sunday Times)

A transgender charity that campaigns for children to be given prohibited sex-change treatment has been awarded £500,000 by the national lottery.

The payment to Mermaids has angered MPs, feminists and women’s organisations, who accuse the charity of bullying doctors, promoting falsehoods and using “emotional blackmail” to pressure parents to support life-changing medical interventions for their children. Mermaids will use the money to create a network of 45 groups nationwide.

Oink, I think it is the Big Lottery Fund that makes decisions on how money spent by the National Lottery is spent. But worth complaining to both.

Dawn Austwick came from the Esmee Fairburn Foundation who again have consistently funded young transgender projects. I have a mental image of North London dinner parties where everyone congratulates each other on how woke they all are, with poor Justine sitting there focussing on her food.

I attended my MP's surgery last Friday to express my concerns regarding the treatment of children with gender dysphoria. She has definitely drunk the cool-aid and parroted incorrect statistics, for which I had no hard facts in front of me.

So this morning I sent an email to her, suggesting she reads Andrew's article and giving a couple of quotes for her consideration.

Thank you Andrew for your support over this very worrying development.

I wasn't clear. I want to complain to the commercial arm, because it's lack of sales/cancelled accounts that will change their minds, not complaints to the North London dinner party set. As pp have mentioned, it's all circular, they all award each other money and nominate each other for awards and perpetuate their careers out of thin air and other people's suffering.
National Lottery changed their rules again recently to boost prizes because sales aren't great. I think it's worth pursuing, I doubt I could change any woke minds but I could probably convince twenty people to cancel their online accounts.

I attended my MP's surgery last Friday to express my concerns regarding the treatment of children with gender dysphoria.

Is the issue the treatment of children with GD or the fact that children are identifying as transgender in their droves without having GD ?

I've seen a number of statistics that would suggest only 1-2% of those identifying as TG actually have GD.

Oink, agreed.

I have decided that my New Year Resolution is to call out as many of these funding decisions as I can. If enough of us do this, perhaps we can shine some clear light onto this circularity. Our children's future physical and mental health depends on it.

Argh
No!

I was talking with a group of educational professionals at work. Between us we had over one hundred and twenty YEARS of working with children and young people. Including specialist work with special needs. Everyone had stories of gender conforming people (strongly gender non conforming, and would be classed as trans today). Everyone thought we need to be really careful. Everyone thought there is s culture of fear about speaking up.

can'tgetrid your last sentence sums it up perfectly.

I'm so cross. I thought there was going to be an investigation into the rise in ROGD amongst girls. NEWFLASH it's always happened and most people grow out of it!!!

This is insane. Blood on all these people's hands.

Thanks to Andrew and David again. My heart breaks for all those children who will be exploited through more abuse.
I will write to the National Lottery so thanks for the email address upthread.
Where the hell are the other MPs? Brexit can't be used as an excuse forever.

That tweet.. shocking.

The mindset is disturbing. It’s not uncommon when someone has done something with lifelong, irreversible and likely negative physical and mental consequences. They then need to validate that, so they seek to normalise it by making it more widespread and ‘normal.’ Everyone else is collateral damage in their own fantasy.

There are several individuals like this in this movement - they have varying degrees of influence but all I think are driven by the same desire - to eradicate any doubt on what they have done by making society accept it.

from the Times article,

The chief executive of Mermaids, Susie Green, who took her son for a now illegal sex-change operation in Thailand when he was 16, believes medical intervention is “absolutely vital” for children unhappy with their biological sex. Her view is disputed by NHS gender specialists who say intervention is not always right.

Andrew Gilligan's use of words is significant.

Hopefully this will bring the debate to a wider audience.

I had a discussion with someone recently about the whole trans movement and she had no idea - had never heard of mermaids or all sorts, wasn’t aware that non gender conforming kids were being labelled as trans, nor that there even were ‘gender neutral’ loos in places and what these meant.

She hasn’t heard of men are saying that they are women and demanding access to women’s spaces with threats of violence.

Or that women are being silenced for questioning the whole twaw thing.

That the police will come to a persons door for repairing a tv interview where a certain doctor made a bit of a fool of himself - but won’t lift a finger when a woman has repeated death and rape threats to her and her kids via twitter.

She didn’t know that girls are having mastectomies and faux penises fashioned from their arm skin.

Nor that the poster child had gender reassignment abroad at a early age which is now illegal.

Nor that male bodied persons are pushing women out of positions, bullying them in academia and screaming in the face of science.

Or that lesbians are being told that they are homophonic for not wanting to have sexual with a male bodied person.

Or than male bodied persons are saying with a straight face ‘I’m a lesbian’.

She said that as a child she would have been queried because she was quite a tomboy.

Bowl, I agree. I was particularly struck by one of the mums of transchild who sometimes posts here. The logic seemed to be"better a transchild than a dead child" followed by "my child is unhappy/suicidal because of you nasty hostile MNetters", when the clear alternative dialogue was "your child is unhappy because of reasons that need to be explored. It might be gender dysphoria, but it is far more likely that gender confusion is a symptom rather than the cause."

Jackie Green's body language in the photo is curious. To me it looks as if she is adopting a very defensive posture. Though it is not clear what is causing the lack of ease.

It wont let me comment. So I will put it here.

So a lot of non-medical people, with their fingers in lots of pies, tell medical experts to shut the fuck up. Because if other non-medical people realise they are being conned, they might not be very pleased. Got it.

Susie Green chills me to the bone. I think there’s some kind of Munchausen thing going on here. And she is hell bent on using other children to justify her own terrible action with her own son. It’s as if she NEEDS to get other parents to do the same.

Horrific.

Not exactly impartial then !

This is why we need better NHS support from Psychologists with no agenda.

Susie Green chills me to the bone too. Somebody on Twitter has reposted the clip of Susie and her mother giggling away at Susie's son's 'micro' penis that the teen had before surgery.

I see she no longer has pastel hair.

I love that Andrew has used this in his last two articles on Susie:

Green, an IT consultant, has no medical training. Responding on Twitter to an NHS psychiatrist who accused her of “making stuff up”, she wrote that “you need to f* off. You know nothing.”

Pretty spot on.

Although bear in mind the diagnosis criteria for diagnosing has been reducing.

In 1980s transexualism was a medical diagnosis
In 1993 this was replaced with Gender Identity Disorder
In 2013 this was replaced by Gender Dysphoria - a very diluted notion

Here's something to consider....
We all acknowledge the number of people being diagnosed with GD is relatively low but even so, how many of those diagnosed GD would have had a diagnosis when it was GID ?

When Mermaids collapses, as any organisation that edges towards grooming eventually will, it's going to make the Kids Company debacle look tame.

I think this will happen. Charities run by evangelical ‘dogooders’ will not accept criticism or alternative opinion. They believe that they and only they know ‘the truth’ and won’t take advice from experts. They are followed by like minded people for their own reasons.

No, it won’t end well. And I won’t be sad. I won’t float because of the damage done.
