TW will never replace men, will they?

Was at an event recently where they have 2 male and 2 female speakers every year. This year it was 2 male, a TW and a woman. The event isn't important, it's not some great career thing where women are underrepresented so I'm not really bothered, but why does it always have to be a TW replacing a woman? That's more my problem, that I bet it never occurred to the organisers to have 2 female, 1 TW and 1 male. It never seems to occur to anybody.

Could you raise it with the organisers? This stuff needs nipping in the bud.

Or 2 female, 1 TM and 1 male would also be a refreshing change...

I was just thinking about how, whenever trans people are featured, it's almost always trans women - where are the trans men? Stella O'Malley's Ch4 documentary, where she interviewed several young trans people did have quite a long bit with a trans man (who came across as a lovely person and looked very happy), but I can't think of any other TV show that had a trans man on - yet there must be loads of them!

GrumpyGran8 · 14/12/2018 18:25

(Hit Enter too soon)This media focus on MtFs makes trans men almost invisible; most people must think that it's only men that transition. So, of course, they're bound to predominate whenever somebody thinks "Oh, we must be more diverse - let's have a trans person on!" It doesn't help, either, that some (at least) TWs seem to love the attention and the praise, while TMs just seem to want to get on with their lives.

Oh, transmen are mentioned quite often - always when it is to gain sympathy for the trans ideology.

They are the alleged reason nothing can be "for women" anymore but has to be for "bleeders" or "menstruators" or whatever.

They are a very useful tool. But no more than that. They aren't given power.

The only way for a woman to get power by crossdressing is if she passes and no one notices she's really a woman. In order to be able to do that, the woman has to know that no one really believes that people can change sex, and that no one will give her power if they know she doesn't have a penis.

If any women manage to replace men in positions of power, it will be by convincingly passing as male while being aware they are women, not by identifying as trans and believing that they'll get handed male privilege for saying they identify as male.

Perhaps part of the reason, though I agree with you it wouldn't occur to them anyway, is because the TW would consider it very invalidating to not be given one of the allotted 2 women's places.

Even when there's a furore about a transman role being played by a female actress, in all the articles I read it's transwomen who get interviewed and make statements about it.

AngryAttackKittens · 14/12/2018 20:44

That last one is interesting, isn't it, how transwomen are assumed to be able to speak for transmen but not the other way around? Almost as if everyone knows what sex people are and is still relating to them based on that and thus male privilege is maintained and cannot be acquired after the fact.

HestiaParthenos · 14/12/2018 20:52

Do you mean "female actress without gender identity", or do they literally want a bepenised person to play the transman? Hmm

ItsFridayImHavingACupOfTea · 14/12/2018 21:06

Oh yeah, transmen are only ever mentioned when they present an opporuntity to diminish women further.

The TRAs don't give a shit about them the rest of the time cos as much as they spout TWAW I don't think they believe for a second that TMAM.

BlindYeo · 14/12/2018 21:10

Maybe you could write and ask the organisers if next year they will find it acceptable for there to be two men and two transwomen and no cunty people at all? Because that's where they seem to be heading.

ChewyLouie · 14/12/2018 21:40

The underlying misogyny of the trans cult: men know men can’t be women but enforcing the lie in everyday life is probably a fun way of putting women in their place. They do need to be called out on it every single time, although this is easier said than done.

HestiaParthenos · 14/12/2018 22:34

Would be a rhetorical question. I mean, they obviously would find it acceptable.

After all, TWAW, so what's the problem?

VovoBickie · 15/12/2018 01:59

Write and ask why no trans men were included

Yes and therefore will probably never happen!

It was interesting though, because we couldn't see the speakers where we were sat and so afterwards people near me were asking why they hadn't announced that one of the women had been replaced by a man and thanked for stepping in at short notice etc.
