FFS. All the usual touchy-feely bollocks. The document recommends that woman store their eggs, and men their sperm before starting on the medical journey. It also states than any mental health issues are most often from discrimination. Oh, and 'Psychotherapy is not a requirement of accessing gender affirming care ' Heaps more crap but I'm too pissed off to read again. It's all straight out of the transfer handbook.

OK - started to read the guidelines, and almost immediately saw the sentence "sex assigned at birth". It goes downhill from there.
I've given up. It's Christmas soon. We deserve a break.

Yeahnahyeah
Thank you for posting this. I did read the entire document (eventually), and found it disturbing. Katherine Ryan was interviewing someone on 'Nine to Noon' this morning on the new health guidelines, but I wasn't able to listen to it. If you heard it I would be interested in your thoughts.
We ( Illyria47 and I ) printed off the pages which concerned us the most (terminology and section on children) and dropped them off at David Clark's electorate office. As Minister of Health I imagine his Parliamentary office will keep him up to date on such things, but no harm in letting him know that people are keeping an eye on this issue.

Hi, just listened to it. If I had listened 3 weeks ago pre peaktrans I wouldn't have though "great, good one" etc. It was all very benign, Katherine's questions were all easy and warm-fuzzerey. No Q's around kids, terminology etc; not even on the radar. Yes I agree with you, the document deftly includes all the very questionable catch phrases that make my blood boil (and are never questioned).
About to start my email.
Puuullll!!!

Hi yeahnahyeah just listened to the interview myself, and my reaction? A waste of time. Katherine Ryan was uncritically accepting of everything that was said, though you would have thought the mention of puberty blockers might have warranted a question or two.
All three women came across as warm and genuine in their desire to assist the transgender community, but questions did need to be asked about their uncritical acceptance of the competency of self diagnosis, especially with regard to children!!
The responses to the Health guidelines have apparently been overwhelmingly positive within the medical community.
If anyone in the UK wonders how NZ is doing with transgender issues, just read the New Health Guidelines for Gender Diverse NZ. It's is eye-opening.
