does mumsnet not list all topics?

I started a thread yesterday about Cyntoia Brown and is no longer listed in the forum index.

Have I breached some mumsnetiquette unwritten rule? Confused

Has it been moved to a different topic?

stumbledin · 14/12/2018 00:15

Thanks - yes - that's it. I can get to it via email notification, but I just cant see it listed.

I did look in the other feminist sections,

But confused if it has been moved that I didn't get a notification.

Not just stumbledin but stumbling around!

Petitions always get moved to the Petitions board when MNHQ notices them (it's to stop petitions being spammed across boards which apparently can be a problem). But usually they post on the thread to say they've done it. I don't think they usually notify the OP, though that would be nice (for non-spammed ones ... actually, notifying umpteen times on spammed ones might be fair!)

Start a new thread with no petition.

charis · 14/12/2018 06:35

Yes, with a link to it. I couldn't believe what I was reading. Awful.

stumbledin · 14/12/2018 14:18

Thanks for the replies.

I did notice link now had the word petition in but when I looked at the home page of the forums I couldn't see a category called petitions!!

Would really appreciate if someone could indicate to me where this is.

oh dear, press enter too soon.

The irony is I wasn't particularly wanting to promote the petitions as they are probably more relevant to US citizens(?) But thought the idea of sending cards or messages of support was nice.

I included the petition info as it explains what has and is happening to Cyntoia Brown which is so awfule and such a really horrible example of the double standards towards women in the law and public perceptions of when and why women are violent.

What do you call the 'home page' of the forums?

If you go to www.mumsnet.com/Talk which is the page that shows all topics and then click 'show all', Petitions and activism shows up under 'classified'. Or if you click A-Z it is listed under 'P'.

This is on a PC, it's possible the mobile site or app is arranged differently.

If you're looking at Active / Active conversations, threads will only show up if they've been recently posted on.

Are we allowed petitions in Feminst activism? I think we should be.

Ereshkigal · 14/12/2018 15:02

Yes agree, start a new thread without the petition in FWR to suggest writing cards and messages of support, OP.

stumbledin · 14/12/2018 18:47

Okay! have gone into overdrive and now posted new thread on feminist chat www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3451440-Send-a-card-to-Cyntoia-Brown-sex-trafficked-victim-senteced-to-51-years-for-self-defence

Although it does look like some are commenting on the original now petition thread.

And thanks for pointing out that Petitions are in Classified!! I cant imagine anyone would look for them there. Feminist Activism yes! Classified?? No!!

And yes by home page I did mean the index to the forums.

Try it and find out?

I think it's ok to have a thread in FWR which has a link to a petition thread.
