We are disappointed that ConversationUK published a transphobic post and was unwilling to consider the effects that such articles have. Once again, the lives of trans people are treated as a matter of opinion.

Usual 'sex is a spectrum', 'intersex is 1.7% of population' fandango.

Prof. Stock's comment:

Another example of how the LGBT ‘community’ is in fact set up to automatically mentally disfavour the interests of females including lesbians, of which I’m one. Shame on this illiberal bunch.

And the admirable Mrkhtake2 :

I urge people to stop denying science.

New day, new defamatory attempt to get me to shut up. With few v honourable exceptions, those in my own discipline online just watch, with popcorn. The British Philosophical Assoc. have said not their area either. 2018 is year I lost respect for most of my posturing profession.

On point comment from Nigel Biggar (leading academic ethicist etc.) in that thread that puts me in mind of so many writers on tyranny and totalitarianism:

I have no trouble understanding why membership of the Nazi party was proportionately higher among university professors in 1930s Germany: most just wanted a quiet life.

‘Transpeople’s humanity is not up for debate’.
It seems the safety and dignity of women is not up for debate either. We are being told what we are - bleeders, non men, a subset of the word women. Defining sex according to biology to ensure the safety of women is not a crime against humanity. No one is denying transpeople are human, just supporting basic biology that you cannot and never will be able to change your DNA (which defines your biological sex) from XY to XX.
I do wonder whether all of the signatories really read the letter and understood what they were signing???
To the few courageous people willing to renounce the current madness, thank you.
