"
❤️Jane Austen was a Super Plus fan, Lizzie preferred a Mooncup + Emma didn't leave Hartfield without her Thinx. But some bleeders in the UK can't afford sanitary products, imagine the scandal at the ball!💃🏽 Donate to @bloodygood__ this Festive Period & help someone's #flowhoho❣️"

Very disappointing. I can't believe we are back in the Middle Ages so comprehensively.
And no, using 'bleeder' is not "more inclusive" because it includes trans men. It is massively, massively reducing women to a (distasteful and historically considered 'impure') bodily function.

Can I start referring to men as "standuppissers"?

Googling her sadly it looks like a misogynistic female came out with the "women who disagree with my antiwoman terminology just need a wank" tweet. Depressing.

rightreckoner · 11/12/2018 17:55

I’m reminded of that university student who got appointed head of the Students Union and said she would tear down a painting of white men in the University. They were young men who didn’t get to complete their studies because they were killed in WW1. All she saw was a picture of white men and an opportunity to virtue signal. No understanding of context. No respect. No idea that she might not know everything.

That’s what’s happening here. No care for women - donors or beneficiaries. Just an opportunity to be one of the cool kids.

At least student woman resigned and apologised. Whereas this idiot is digging her heels in. Id have so much respect for her if she said it had been tone deaf and that she would look again. But instead she doubles down on the offensiveness. The vibrator comment might as well have come from a man - those frigid disapproving women need a damn good shagging and then they’ll relax and stop spoiling my fun Angry

ChewyLouie · 11/12/2018 18:02

Likedust 😂😂

stillathing · 11/12/2018 18:18

this idiot is digging her heels in

It's awkward yes. But social media doesn't encourage one to pause and think. We should be looking for common ground; demonstrating we understand what the other side is saying; and only then putting our arguments across. Instead we defend against our feelings of hurt or shame by firing off outraged and defensive remarks. I'm as guilty as anybody else at this.

FleetsumNJetsum · 11/12/2018 18:23

Digging heels in because this is another case of Noble Cause Corruption. SO convinced they are SO right they can do anything they want.

Beagadorsrock · 11/12/2018 18:27

The comedian who is their ambassador has attempted to defuse the situation. Shows some semblance of self-awareness, except that I suspect she doesn't really understand why her use of the word 'bleeders' is not the kind of joke that would carry well over Twitter.

I've been thinking about it on the drive home and nope, I can't see how she couldn't have written 'people' instead.

If in doubt, keep digging.

Pennydrew142 · 11/12/2018 19:07

Vibrators? Really? Urgh how depressingly misogynistic, again. Just wow. Vile.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 11/12/2018 19:11

I’m wondering if they’ve every had a real job in the real world. Because they don’t know how to conduct themselves in business do they?

ErrolTheDragon · 11/12/2018 19:14

Is she aware her internalised misogyny is showing?! That comment about vibrators is just so ridiculous.

Victorian cure for 'hysteria'?! ShockGrin

HestiaParthenos · 11/12/2018 19:18

I’m wondering if they’ve every had a real job in the real world. Because they don’t know how to conduct themselves in business do they?

Good question.

I think there must be some kind of cognitive dissonance at work.

There's so many people who seem so utterly clueless about how the world works, they can't all have always been jobless, surely?

Popchyk · 11/12/2018 19:23

As an aside, but I've come to conclude that these things are invariably all linked, I notice that Gaby is on the Advisory Board of a company called The Vagina Museum which aims to set up a museum devoted to vaginas. Juno Roche (a male transgender person) is also on the advisory board.

The whole thing has a whiff of the Linda Rileys about it.

The website is worth a laugh though.

Vagina museum faqs

Why isn't it called the Vulva Museum?
The museum is going to be about the entire gynaecological anatomy and its place in our culture and history. There is no good word for the whole anatomy that isn't trans-exclusionary (e.g. female reproductive system) or overly medical (gynaecological system).

Aren't you defining women by their vaginas?
No. Firstly, that would be trans-exclusionary.

HestiaParthenos · 11/12/2018 19:29

They are aware males lack a vagina just as much as they lack a vulva?

Confused
rightreckoner · 11/12/2018 19:31

The vagina museum that cannot mention the female reproductive system? Why not call it the sex toy front hole museum then, since that is what it is.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 11/12/2018 19:33

Obsessed with female reproduction - but only in reference to men and not mentioning the W word.

Silly wee girls.

Popchyk · 11/12/2018 19:36

I thought this was a real tell:

Aren't you defining women by their vaginas?
No. Firstly, that would be trans-exclusionary.

So to counter the accusation that it reduces women to their biology, the first thing you do is to consider the interests of men. Because that is clearly the most important thing.

CharlesChickens · 11/12/2018 19:39

I bought things from here instead. www.heygirls.co.uk/
No “bleeders” in sight.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 11/12/2018 19:44

only women and girls. No menz.

stillathing · 11/12/2018 19:55

The fuck?

The term "female reproductive system" is trans exclusionary"??

Can someone explain that to me please? And explain why somebody who believes that would want to be part of a period poverty charity?

rightreckoner · 11/12/2018 19:58

stillathing you are right. Social media is not helpful in this regard. Gaby’s impetuous and dismissive responses are partly a symptom of social media and partly her own foolishness. Hope she learns from this and takes time to think. Signs aren’t good though.

stillathing · 11/12/2018 19:59

I'm sorry if trans rights activists didn't insist upon appropriating every. single. term. wouldn't it be a lot simpler for both genderists and non genderists alike?

How are biologists supposed to manage without the apparently trans exclusionary term "female"?

stillathing · 11/12/2018 20:01

rightgreckoner I am very much being a hypocrite right now though! Staggered by the ridiculousness of it all.

CharlesChickens · 11/12/2018 20:02

Yes i just noticed that upthread , so now I am really annoyed and won’t buy from them again, i’ll do what i usually do and donate sanitary stuff straight to the food bank.

SirVixofVixHall · 11/12/2018 20:06

It is interesting, why someone who thinks the words “female reproductive system “ are trans exclusionary, would choose to work for a charity helping exclusively female people..
