Very disappointing. I can't believe we are back in the Middle Ages so comprehensively.
And no, using 'bleeder' is not "more inclusive" because it includes trans men. It is massively, massively reducing women to a (distasteful and historically considered 'impure') bodily function.

Can I start referring to men as "standuppissers"?

Well. the comments are 99.9% amusing but the tweet is still up there.

Bleeders and breeders. Charming.

And if anyone is interested, local foodbanks generally accept sanitary products and do t insult you (or their clients).

Just saw their response Penny. Oh wow - what a bunch of cahhhhhhs (since they are using the vernacular). I do hope someone posts it on twitter...

How is it an inclusive organisation? They dont care how offensive and reductive that hateful term is to the very people they purport to be helping! That does not make them inclusive, it just makes them idiots.

Angry

I don’t think it’s worth it and I think the first reply is enough to show the position and attitude of the organisation and how it responds to women and potential donors. It’s not at all considering the feelings of the group targeted ( women ) about how they’re being referred. Yet whenever a trans person objects to a ‘misgendering’ the actual police investigate ffs it’s a hate crime while dehumanising language for girls and women is tolerated. Why? I already know men like oppressing us. Why the fuck are all these women standing in the way of our progress all the time? I’ve been campaigning on women’s issues all my life and I firmly believe we would of had a lot more progress if women like this weren’t so god damn eager to capitulate to men.

Wouldn't it be great if Ann Summers marketed their Rampant Rabbits and dildoes to women by addressing them as "Hey WANKERS!"Xmas Grin

Hmmmmm.

Dental cream ‘Oi gummy!’
Minoxidil ‘Oi baldy
Haemorrhoid cream ‘Oi sore arse’
Coop funeral care ‘Oi deid guy’

I’m getting the hang of this marketing lark.

Reductive language. Offensive as fuck. The woke bleeders can bleeding well bleed off.

I’m a cunt and a bleeder. Now fuck off you woke twat.

Do you think Twitter would have a problem with that?

Like Trump on Megyn Kelly, 'bleeders' inspires nasty women.

It's a vile descriptor. I refuse to engage with anyone who refers to me as an involuntary action rather than who I am - a woman. Who do they think they are?!

Nothing like insulting women when they really need help in purchasing a basic necessity.

Thank god they don’t volunteer in hospitals or where hair is donated to make wigs for people going through chemo.

‘Oi baldy - have a wig!’
‘Oi sicko - here’s your penicillin!’

Bloody Good Period have replied to this as follows: twitter.com/bloodygood__/status/1072191849606066176

Their comment includes this:

Our mission is to ensure that we will soon look back on this row and wonder what is so incendiary about recognising the reality of all people who have periods'

How about recognising the reality that most 'cunts' (definitely preferable to bleeder) identify as women and girls and do not identify as bleeders?

They do not want to get it at all. The reality of being an adult human female or being a same sex attracted lesbian is being erased and they are contributing to it by being happy to dehumanise us when it suits them.

This false assumption that to be inclusive means using words and language that are just awful towards women! You can include transmen and non-binary women by simply referring to them, it's not hard.

And all this guff about it was meant to be a joke... well what was the joke, or the light hearted intent? It makes no sense.

How to turn a valid and important campaign into an insult to women and girls

It's like a group of Year 10 boys have been given "End period poverty!" as a GCSE Marketing project assignment

Exactly this. Why is it I never ever EVER see "women, transmen and non-binary women" like that in a list? It's not actually about being inclusive, is it?

I could have coped with ‘people who have periods’, it would have grated but I could have got past that, but bleeders?

Report

Just looked them up and see their target recipients are asylum seekers. I work in a related area & am utterly utterly baffled that they think "bleeders" is an appropriate term outside of middle class university halls. Do they actually engage with the women they collect for? Do they know anything about their lives?
