Gender studies replaced women's studies by stealth. They've managed to write about the situation in Hungary, draw parallels with what happens in the West, and yet not mention the no-platforming, harassment and silencing of women once.
Maybe because they think its ok when its them doing it?

Well, let's hope so! Who can afford to be funding this academic shit show when there is reality-based research we - and trans men/women suffering from gender/dysphoria - all need. Maybe the money can go on understanding ROGD, the possible link with dysphoria and ASD, or the impact of widening the umbrella (a la Stonewall) and the competing rights issues instead?

I have never stopped being angry about Women's Studies becoming Gender Studies. It annoys me intensely. We're really not allowed anything of our own, are we?

I would love to see the end of gender studies. I now have a negative Pavlovian response to the word "gender". Just written a comment in the Spectator and was getting angrier and angrier at being unable to use the word sex which gets moderated out.
Am currently using a computer programme for a sporting event I'm organising at the weekend and it has gender not sex.
I started doing a Fururelearn online course from Stratclyde uni on violence against women but had to stop because they kept talking about gender based this that and the other when they meant sex.
How feminine women are is unimportant!!!!

It's EVERYWHERE! Language is so important

ToeTo Toe I have never stopped being angry about Women's Studies becoming Gender Studies. It annoys me intensely. We're really not allowed anything of our own, are we? And if we try to go back to Women's Studies, well that means everyone now...all the "women"

Laundry: Yes I agree. So many worthy avenues of inquiry and research to explore. This whole shit show is regressive and decidedly not progressive.

OldCrone: They've managed to write about the situation in Hungary, draw parallels with what happens in the West, and yet not mention the no-platforming, harassment and silencing of women once.

EXACTLY. I looked up the author and followed some of the links. Are they so stupid? Half of the focus seems to be dis-mantling Title IX, the other half marketing of academia and protecting their institutions. It's all twisted up with double-think. My puzzler is sore.
But it's rare that I come across an article that looks beyond the english speaking world, so that's interesting.

Thanks for your replies
