On twitter Mouncey goes on about how progressive Iran is. When challenged, can't see past the trans part.

So I'm confused.... Is it true that most of the Iranians in the team are trans or not? I gather from previous posts (or I read it somewhere) that in Iran homosexuality is punishable by death so the workaround is to transition them? Is this correct? **head spinning... If it IS correct, same concerns IMHO, but the narrative around Mouncey needs to change a bit to encompass this? Chances are I've gone down the wrong path, but would love some clarification ( was that YouTube video showing them mainly trans a hoax or not?)

No, my understanding is that all of this Iranian handball team are women. It's their 'womens' soccer team which has a lot of trans players.

The woman in the hijab who Mouncey was looming over looks tiny in comparison, though she's probably a perfectly averagely sized woman. It is simply not safe to have Mouncey running around a crowded court with women that much smaller. I mean great, handball doesn't actively encourage body slamming people, but still, collisions happen.

I used to play Handball in the school team and having someone coming at you who is a foot taller than you and much heavier when you are defending at the circle (not sure what that is called in English handball terminology) is bloody frightening.

@Igneococcus totally agree - i play a contact sport - football - at a pretty low level and it completely changes the game if someone so big and tall plays or if we play mixed with men - you will get seriously harmed - body-slammed/ feet crushed/ bruises - if you tackle someone of their size so you just don’t go in for the tackle 🤷🏼‍♀️

I don't think I could tackle Mouncey, even at a full run. I'd just bounce right off.

My Dd plays handball. The European championships are on at the moment. I wonder how many men will be playing.

I'm tall, I'm build like Brienne of Tarth's slightly smaller sister and I would stay out of Mouncey's way. And as far as I know, Mouncey isn't a longtime handball player either, so Mouncey won't have the contact avoiding instincts that you develop when you play a sport from youth on either.
What the fuck is Australia thinking nominating this person for a national team?

Warsaw I played several sports for my school team but my main sport was Volleyball which I played to a very high level. It's not a contact sport as such but even there having men playing changes the game. They are taller, with longer arms, can jump higher, balls are suddenly coming much faster and from different angles, it's not good.

Even an accidental collision with Mouncey could seriously injure the other players.

I wonder what Clare Balding would make of this? She always seems very sensible and is passionate about women’s sport. Doubt she would be willing to speak out though.

@Igneococcus my main sport is volleyball too totally agree that let alone the concerns about contact sport, men’s and women’s games in most sports are completely different so this is not good for women’s sport.
