We have council elections coming up and our local councillor, a Green, is being challenged by Labour. I've scoured our Council website and as far as I can tell it uses the words 'sex' and 'gender' appropriately (although I'm no expert). I wonder, however, it is worth writing to them to ask for a commitment to ensure sex-segregaged spaces. It would be a good way of putting it on the Council's radar I think. Any thoughts on what I might put in an email to them?
