According to Andrew Gilligan, a senior Scottish prison official convicted of possessing 22,000 indecent images of children and now on the sex offenders' register was one of those responsible for introducing its “gender identity and gender reassignment policy” which places men in women's prisons according to their self identification.

But, in the bowels of Christ (to appropriate a phrase), is this amongst the most rebarbative, egregious assaults on women that we've ever seen? To affect to believe that we're living through a social phenomenon in which women are suddenly committing sexual offences?

Indeed. It's just one of the issues coming out of this whole 'let's pretend something is true when we know it isn't' nonsense that annoys the shite out of me.

Kat : Sometimes DD2 says I go on about this stuff too much.

Same here! My dd is 13 and thinks it's all a ridiculous obsession of mine and things like men in womens prisons isnt actually happening. I suppose I should be grateful none of my DC are buying into the trend.

Hopefully our DDs will be thanking us one day!

Hmm.

So we have Mr Challoner, Ms Bradley and now Mr Gilligan. All in public posts with public responsibilities, all of whom who have influenced and guided policy that reduces safeguarding and protections for women.

The question has to arise, how many more are there not yet come to light? And to what extent do the personal agendas of these people mean those policies need to be immediately and very closely examined with a critical eye to personal agendas having influenced them?

Journalists? Politicians? Anybody?

feelingverylazytoday · 02/12/2018 17:54

Knicknack Mr Gilligan is the journalist who has uncovered this story, not the offender. The sex offender's name is Gordon Pike. Andrew Gilligan has really done a lot of good work on this subject, and holds his own on twitter.

Deepest apologies Andrew! Was thinking too much about being tactful enough not to get deleted in making a point.
