Coming home in the car DD1's mate said:
"Have you heard about this school where there's 77 trans pupils! It's crazy" DD replied they'd been discussing it with her trans mate and he'd said " it's transtrenders " and "that genuine trans people were getting really fed up with them and it needs to stop"
I couldn't believe it! Coming from a 15 year old trans kid. I'm thinking it's being discussed on forums.

Driving prevented fist pumping but I'm seeing the Woke actually Waking up!
Not every child who says they are trans is trans. We know it. Unquestioning affirmation is dangerous.

Also it allowed me to rant about gender stereotypes for 5 mins without DD2 getting triggered. Which was marvellous. All three teens believed in a biological definition of women and men. Yey.

What a thing to feel!
They also agree people can express themselves however they want.

Then I came home to a Telegraph article about woman's hour and how it's pushing back the trans activists. It's brutally good.

I can't link the article because my cut and paste function is being dodgy...a sad moment in an otherwise good day.

Then I saw DrStocks epic retort to Sally Hines flouncing. More yays!

I'm feeling more positive that the nation is peaking.

I love Dr Stock's reply. It just sums up the difference between them doesn't it?

Here's a quote from the Telegraph article:

What are sex and gender?” Garvey asked at the start of the first debate, last Monday. Sociologist Sally Hines cleared her throat and attempted clarity. It didn’t last long. “Sex, I would argue, is a very complex mix of chromosomes, hormones and genitals… So we are talking about biological factors, but we’re not talking about anything at all which is straightforward…. We are talking about a complex mix of factors which, especially in the West, have often been seen through a binary framework.”

You could practically hear Garvey’s eyeballs rolling in her head. I share her impatience with the self-important verbosity of gender politics. And if Garvey sometimes seems exasperated by her trans guests, who can blame her? They keep refusing to take part in a proper debate – insisting on recording their interviews separately from the enemy.

This Monday’s discussion was supposed to be about how to improve communication between the two sides. But Bex Stinson, head of trans equality at Stonewall, refused to appear in the studio with her opposite number (Helen Lewis of the New Statesman) on the grounds that the debate was too toxic. The mad circularity of this argument – I won’t try to have a civilised conversation because the conversation is too uncivilised – was especially baffling because Lewis is one of the gentler critics of the trans lobby.

She already believes that trans women are women, deserving of the same rights and respect as other women. Yet, said Lewis, because she doesn’t subscribe to every element of trans doctrine, Stinson apparently regards her as a dangerous bigot. And “if she’s saying that about me”, added Lewis cleverly, “she’s saying that about – I would say – 95 per cent of Woman’s Hour listeners.” That’s how to win a debate: speak plain English, know your audience – and above all, be in the room.

I love WH. And I really love Jane Garvey - you're absolutely right about her eye rolling. And who can blame her?

I wonder what % of transwomen listen to WH, just out of interest?

I've seen this before with teenagers.
Everyone is X so I'm going to be Y to be cool and special
More X people start to move into Y group
Critical mass is reached. Y is no longer cool and special
I'm not Y, I'm W!
Lather, rinse, repeat

Katvonblackdeath · 28/11/2018 19:57

Ha howl
True.

Never before have we had a trend that can lead to a path to permanent sterilisation and a lifetime of medication. Yay for the progressive 21st century!

I love that article. You could absolutely hear Jane's eyes rolling back.

Trouble being how many by then will have been through irreversible hormone treatment?

That's my worry too. Regrettable piercings can be removed, bad haircuts grow out. Breast that have been removed because Tumblr and YT convinced you that you were meant to be a man don't grow back, and cancer can kill.

Serfisafleur · 29/11/2018 11:14

Great. Glad to here even the teenagers are starting to see it for the ridiculous trend it is.
