I've just seen this:

It's a wonder so few people pick up on the connection between Body Dysmorphia and Gender Dysphoria. The similarities are startling.

I assumed it was the same thing by and large.

That's what I've always thought. I just can't believe there are doctors and psychologists effectively 'celebrating' gender dysphoria when an almost identical mental health condition is still treated as just that.

It’s like anorexia or bulimia. Any celebration of those are stomped on. Thinking you are a cat or lizard is laughed at.

Gender dysphoria is more like body integrity identity disorder - where people think part of their body is 'wrong' and want to become disabled.

I worked with someone years ago who had a specific presentation of BDD its always struck me as strange that gender dysphoria is regarded so differently to this & other forms of dysphoria such as anorerexia and bulimia.
Its a failure of the duty of care.
