"I simply don't see it"
This phrase troubles me. We know she sees it. Everyone sees it. Denying what you see is politically dangerous stuff. Denying what others are telling you is politically dangerous stuff.
The reality is she does not want to admit to what she sees. If she does she has to do something about it. You have to ask, why doesn't she want to see it.
What is it that she doesn't want to see?
Well given that it's male bodies that commit crime against women's bodies and its dangerous men who will exploit the concept of self ID and how the law creates a wall of silence, why is it Layla doesn't want to see this? Also examine who those crimes are generally more likely to be committed against.
Why is Layla afraid about talking about these type of crimes and how trust is abused?
What about the souls of not very nice people? How do you tell the difference between a nice soul and one who is happy to abuse you?
This guff is idealistic, out of touch, away with the fairies nonsense. Very nice as an idea but in a functioning society where bad things happen to good people?
