Tonight at 7.30 in New Cross Learning, Brockley Labour are having their AGM. The issue of Lily Madigan targeting the chair this week on Twitter will come up. So if you are a Brockley Labour member, please go, and if you have friends in Brockley Labour, please urge them to go! Marit needs our support Thanks

Good luck with it. Flowers

teawamutu · 21/11/2018 20:51

Any news?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 21/11/2018 20:52

I hope bulling is called out - from whoever is the source, no exceptions or excuses.

Juells · 21/11/2018 20:59

What's the background to this?

KatVonGulag · 21/11/2018 21:03

Lily M hounding another woman for being gender critical. There's a thread I started on it... But I can't seem to share the link.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 21/11/2018 21:05

It went kerpuffffff didn’t it?

qumquat · 21/11/2018 21:05

Is this the whole of Lewisham Deptford or just Brockley local branch? DP is Lewisham Deptford but not Brockley

sorenipples · 21/11/2018 21:14

I guess it's too much to hope that a motion of support for the chair was raised and passed.

Looking at her twitter feed the chair hasn't let herself be intimidated and today bought a ticket for WP in Reading!

KatVonGulag · 21/11/2018 23:22

Lily's banging on about this...A huge victory
~ apparently

So I'm guessing Lily didn't get the chair deselected. Grin

Is there anything else to talk about? Maybe the 130k homeless in London alone? Refugees living on hovels? Kids going hungry?

Come on Lily look at the real world where people are suffering actual abuse and deprivation - you want to do something? Then do something.

Bittermints · 22/11/2018 07:57

Is it me or is there a massive disconnect between the first and final parts of that resolution?

Have they got nothing better to do? Nothing at all? What a waste of bloody time.

‘Comrades’ my arse. This isn’t soviet Russia Christ almighty no wonder Labour has gone down the pan.

teawamutu · 22/11/2018 08:19

I read that as allowing discussion as long as it's civil. If it's a rebuke then could be equally directed to both sides.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 22/11/2018 08:22

Why do they need to spend time on this one issue? Not even ‘we won’t tolerate bullying and bigotry’. Not addressing the racism and sexism in the party. Just one issue.

teawamutu · 22/11/2018 08:33

I assume because Lils threw their toys out of the pram and no one likes to say no because they'll be the next ones hounded for transphobia.

I have voted Labour all my life but no fecking way will I do it again until the grown ups regrow a spine.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 22/11/2018 08:35

So what do all these trans friendly meetings discuss? Let me guess...

Dragon3 · 22/11/2018 09:07

Bittermints, it's not just you. There's a big, incoherent disconnect.

drradfem · 22/11/2018 13:19

This was put forward and passed as an emergency motion Confused

I read it as having a meeting where everyone can be re-educated so that they understand that TWAW.

calpop · 22/11/2018 13:36

what does that mean?

the nerve of LM - had nothing to do with Brockely or Lewisham until they moved there for Uni and and now wading in with their size 9s telling everyone what to do.

the entitlement is astounding, though familiar as male-pattern behaviour of course.

Needmoresleep · 22/11/2018 13:41

I read it as having a meeting where everyone can be re-educated so that they understand that TWAW.

In a specially designed gulag.

I feel for local Labour party members who have worked long and hard, and who then have near teenagers come in and tell them what they can and can't discuss.

Is it a case of get rid of the Chair, undermine the Woman's Officer and hey presto, one of the jobs is yours and you are on another step up the ladder to a political career.

concretesieve · 22/11/2018 14:04

Well, Lily - if you're reading this - I'm very relieved to see that you've changed your position from '#nodebate' to endorsing a call for discussion of gender issues.

Great idea!

You must forgive me, however if I seem a little churlish in pointing out that quite a lot of people - some of whom, I understand, might even be women - have been suggesting just this for some time now.

Better late than never, however. I don't live in Brockley myself, but would encourage anyone reading this to join Brockley Labour party and participate in the proposed meetings.
