Article in The Times today about a shift in focus.... I'll put the link in the second post as it may not work for everyone in the OP.

My initial thought is that this is good ( so long as it amounts to something more than words) but of course it would be better if it wasn't, apparently, at the expense of sidelining equality at higher salary/corporate levels.

I remain cynical about any 'prioritising' by this government.

They don’t give a fuck, they’re just vote chasing.

See - on the face of this, it's an admirable initiative.

Women in poorly paid jobs, with limited qualifications or who care for elderly relatives or disabled children will become the priority in Whitehall in a shift of policy to be announced today.

attention will switch to those who work as carers, cleaners and in customer service roles. Ethnic minority groups such as Bangladeshi women will be targeted because their employment rate is three times lower than that of white women.

But, because of universal credit and so many of the other disastrous austerity policies - all I see is:

How can we compel more women into the workforce by introducing draconian work availability conditionality for benefits when we haven't fixed childcare yet and LA Social Services have less and less to offer in the way of support for carers?
