Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Is this North Yorkshire Police being so woke that they fear the term 'man' needs elaboration?

I noticed this on the BBC news website.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-york-north-yorkshire-46280249

Did they feel the need to describe the offender's genitals because stating they were male was insufficient?

Well it sounds like the woman didn't get a good description of his face but he had noticeably low hanging bollocks which I guess the police considered a distinguishing feature.

sorenipples · 20/11/2018 18:24

Googled it and you are right.

One of Susie Dent’s favourite words:

rantallion. n. "One whose scrotum is so relaxed as to be longer than his penis, i. e. whose shot pouch is longer than the barrel of his piece." ["Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue," Grose, 1788]

sackrifice · 20/11/2018 18:46

Oh gosh, I think I know who it is.

StealthPolarBear · 20/11/2018 18:49

The man? Call the police

AspieAndProud · 20/11/2018 19:02

I’m guessing whoever it is isn’t climbing any barbwire fences.

Worth checking out Susie Dent’s Guide to Swearing on YouTube.

Definitely not safe for work!

NothingOnTellyAgain · 20/11/2018 20:11

thanks aspie will do!

BrickByBrick · 20/11/2018 22:52

Did anyone else sing 'Do your balls ears hang low?' after reading this.

AngryAttackKittens · 20/11/2018 23:02

Are they expecting someone to go "that's my Darren, that is!" based on the description of the genitalia?

Get it together, Yorkshire police. None of them seem to have the slightest idea how to handle, well, anything really.

AspieAndProud · 20/11/2018 23:12

The description of the suspect’s genitals was bad enough but they really crossed the line with the police artist’s impression.

VovoBickie · 21/11/2018 00:14

Rantallion! I'm definitely adding this to my lexicon

AusDad · 21/11/2018 01:49

Police have released a sketch of the suspect. Please be on the lookout.

sackrifice · 21/11/2018 07:33

Yorkshire police are known to always go for the low-hanging fruit.

AngryAttackKittens · 21/11/2018 07:38

If anyone knows all about talking bollocks it's them!

NorthernLurker · 21/11/2018 07:44

I'm hoping they explored the theory that one of the people who complained was the offender.
I think the description was excellent. This is an unpleasant crime and will have had a significant impact on the victim. A bit of public humiliation won't do the small penis wielding git any harm.

AngryAttackKittens · 21/11/2018 07:49

If anyone's Twitter response was "it's not that small!" they should definitely go talk to that guy.

theOtherPamAyres · 21/11/2018 10:58

It's pointless being coy about a sex offenders 'weapon of choice'.

Indecent exposure is never a one-off crime. The perpetrators are serial offenders. Usually teenagers and young men, they start by exposing themselves to children, then progress to lone women as their confidence grows. It's a well-known 'gateway drug' to more serious sexual offences.

He will change his appearance, wear a hat to cover his baldness, change his location - but he has a distinctive feature that will stick in people's minds. Past victims may come forward. Future victims will be able to help build up a profile (times, days, places).

Why is it considered 'woke' for the police to give accurate, identifying information? What's 'woke' about it?

Serfisafleur · 21/11/2018 11:07

To be fair I think the OP was a bit confused and realises now it's not really a woke issue.

sorenipples · 21/11/2018 12:08

Yes - I realised after the first response that I had heard "yorkshire police" and assumed the worst . i.e. I assumed that they had felt the need to explain the kind of man they were talking about was the one with a penis, whereas actually they thought his droopy testicles and small penis would help identify him .

Mind you I bet if this came to court the defence/press would slut shame the witness for having seen enough male genitalia to make comment.
