Why are we erasing trans identities?

I think anti-women activists consider they are women when they want access to women’s spaces and rights, but transwomen when that gives them privilege.

They are women, but superior/oppressed in every respect and everyone must pander to them.

TWAW denies all differences, erases women and our rights and does nothing for trans people except deny them reality and true self-acceptance. It locks people into a frenzied and neurotic life of attempting to police the perceptions and beliefs of everybody else and avoids the very real medical needs and lived experiences of those who have transitioned.

This made so much sense to me. Thank you for being so articulate, your post has summed up what I have been wanting to say for weeks

It’s like they have turned womaning into a competitive sport, they want to be women but more victimised, oppressed, hard done by and abused than any actual women. Trans women are extreme women.

I find the statement TWAW deeply offensive. I have no interest in being better at being a woman than a man. I have no idea what being a woman actually involves and I have been one for 47 years.

The trans people I gel with are those who have reached a place of self-acceptance - and acceptance of reality. Even if sometimes we may differ in some views, their sense of self doesn't rest on my validation or deny me my reality - they know and accept who they are and that we are different and that's ok.

Whereas TWAW forces us all into a narrative so fragile and easily dismantled by reality that TRAs are on a constant uphill battle to maintain it. It is not psychologically healthy. It is like being stuck permanently in a state of denial where everything - especially reality, or those with different opinions - is an existential threat. All focus is on control and policing the outside world because your identity will collapse if anything remotely challenging it seeps through. It's no way to live really. You're on a hiding to nothing in the long run if you do that.

It is why you get so much drama, hypersensitivity and eggshell-treading. So witness, for instance, the differences between trans people like Miranda Yardley, Fionne Orlander etc who have long liberated themselves from that trap, and TRAs like Lily M, who clearly haven't.

I do wonder how much damage is being done to transwomen who just want to live their lives and generally get on with stuff, because of the attention-seeking shrieking batshittery of the more extreme AGP end of the transwoman spectrum.

In fact on Twitter today one of those trans people who rejects the mantra that you refer to has been told to consider an escape plan out of the country as terrorists are after her. This is what extreme trans ideology has led to.

" Transwomen are women". Well, it depends what we mean, doesn't it? Biologically, it ain't so. Though it is dodgy ground, as there are many interex and chromosomal abnormalites all around us, but basically;

"Transwomen are not biologically women". Ok, then so what.... we move on to the small print;, don't we? Lets try; " Transwomen are, in effect, under UK law, for all practical purposes women, if they have a Gender Recognition Certificate" ""

That's OK, but some don't. So they are not women. But would anyone be able to tell? Because believe me, you can't always tell.

What if a natal norm women says she is a trans women.

As is being against self ID yet fully supporting a certain number of TW that you have deemed as 'good enough to be women'.

I'm not sure why so many posters here announce 'I'm against self ID but you lot are transphobes' without understanding just how transphobic they are being.
