finding a junior, female in my company, inviting her to lunch. In fact, forget that, I'm going to take three junior, female colleagues to lunch and see what I can do to support them.

Anyone else care to join me in doing a small act for women to help mark IMD?

Now now, you know you're going to be told off by a man any second now...

OhHolyJesus · 13/11/2018 20:29

Happily so - donation to a women's refuge maybe? Or another tenner in the pot for Posie maybe. I have no time (and no money either) but I'll make a donation of some kind OP x

OhHolyJesus · 13/11/2018 20:29

Oh - when is it?

BirdseyeFrozen · 13/11/2018 20:39

I am going to fart loudly in the bathroom in the morning.

Will also make a donation to Mens Sheds, in memory of a dear friend of mine. Suicide is still the biggest killer of younger men

I am going to do a small protest against the patriarchy as it harms men and women

I shall contribute to the future of manhood by letting DS help me cook the tea. Being able to nourish yourself is the most vital skill imo. Last year I taught him to put the washer on, unfortunately emptying trouser pockets seems to have gone over his head so I’ll have to put it on this year’s IMD schedule again.

MrsFogi · 14/11/2018 11:36

My work tells me I must celebrate on 19th November.....I'm having to restrain myself from saying that I will only even consider joining in when they no longer have a gender pay gap Angry.

Oh gosh....my work wants to know about inspirational men. Half tempted to nominate Pips Bunce Grin

DadJoke · 14/11/2018 12:14

It exists solely so Richard Herring can educate MRAs on twitter. That alone makes it worthwhile.

Threewheeler1 · 14/11/2018 12:15

Oh please do it Quentin! GrinGrin

MrsFogi · 14/11/2018 12:28

Do it Quentin. PB needs to win ALL the prizes.

I would never have heard of it if it hadn't been for Richard Herring.
Apparently it's being going since 1993 but most men don't seem to know (or care) about it.

deydododatdodontdeydo · 14/11/2018 13:00

Sorry, 1992.

sawdustformypony · 14/11/2018 13:59

but most men don't seem to know (or care) about it.

Amen.

Every day is International Men's Day

sawdustformypony · 14/11/2018 16:26

House !

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 14/11/2018 16:34

I'll be washing my hair that week.

Laceythesheep · 14/11/2018 16:42

I don’t know. I’m still seething about men on the radio fuming ‘what about us?’ on mother’s day, as if there isn’t a father’s day.
I might have a bath Wink

Badstyley · 14/11/2018 16:42

Yes, most men don’t seem to know it, despite me having to tell a number of them each year on International Womens’ Day.

Bloke, ‘why isn’t there an international mens’ day?’
Me, ‘there is, it’s on the 19th of November.’
Bloke, ‘well why isn’t there a big fuss made about it then? Why do you get all this and we get nothing?’
Me, ‘I don’t know, why don’t you ask the men?’
Bloke, ‘maybe men don’t need to constantly bang on about being men?’
Me, ‘Maybe that’s it.’
Bloke, ‘well maybe there should be? You have all this fuss made about you on international womens’ day so we should have one too.’
Me, ‘well like I said, go and talk to the men. It’s not our job to organise it for you.’
Bloke, ‘god you’re a bit touchy aren’t you? I only asked a question.’
Me, ‘yeah, and I’ve answered it.’
Bloke, ‘there’s just no point talking to you is there?’ Flounces in a huff.’

ScottCheggJnr · 14/11/2018 17:09

I think it's a good opportunity to address issues faced by men which often get overlooked due to the whole "everyday is IMD" sentiment.

Men undoubtedly dominate unfairly in some (many) areas of society but these likely aren't the men killing themselves in droves who need help.

TheCountryGirl · 14/11/2018 18:31

I am going to email my priest and ask him what he is doing about men and their treatment of women...on Mother's Day this year he cracked a shitty joke about men (during his boring sermon) REALLY doing the housework but let's celebrate women as it is their day...like WTAF??? Even my cat knows women do the gruelling, tedious work that is of the house!

So on Men's Day let us all make men the focus...of all their shitty crimes and dark deeds.

Yeah, that makes sense. Let's blame all men for the actions of a few assholes. I'm sure it'll help the suicidal guys this day is aimed at helping. 👍
