Hullo!

Anyone tempted to go to this and report back? Note: if one is concerned about being recognised as a 'TERF', then I propose dyeing your hair a suitable colour (neon blue/electric pink/fluorescent green), wearing enormous spectacles, and a too tight shiny dress.

Has anyone seen the leaders of WPUK and the Bilderberg in the same room? I think not!

Haha, merry, that was exactly the image that popped in to my head, too!

This is that old "carceral feminism" chestnut, isn't it? Certain highly strung transactivists are convinced that many feminists are in thrall to the prison industrial complex.

I guess, if you squint hard enough, feminists are pretty keen to have more people locked up for rape, for example. Is that what they're getting at? (I mean, really, who the fuck knows though - I do keep on making the schoolgirl error that there's any overlap between stuff like this and actual, real world things).

SophoclesTheFox · 07/11/2018 17:41

what have they done against the banking industry, or the oil industry, the mass media and what have you?

Successfully avoided gainful employment in any of them? Wink

FissionChips · 07/11/2018 18:13

I might actually go to this and take along a few stickers.

PositivelyPERF · 07/11/2018 18:40

But....but.....but....that’s literal violence. 😉😁

Freespeecher · 07/11/2018 19:12

Careful now. They have zines.

FissionChips · 07/11/2018 19:18

Place isn’t far from town hall, I could commit some sticker based violence there too, make a day of it.

What on earth is a “zine”?

BirdseyeFrozen · 07/11/2018 19:34

"A zine is most commonly a small circulation self-published work of original or appropriated texts and images usually reproduced via photocopier" Wiki

Agitprop ain't what it used to be..

FloralBunting · 07/11/2018 19:35

It's short for 'magazine', isn't it? Some crappy foldover sheet with the same self satisfied ineffective snark they have on the banner of that FB page.

Although 'magazine' is also associated with actual weaponry too, so I wouldn't like to second guess people who like brandishing pretty painted baseball bats.

PositivelyPERF · 07/11/2018 19:38

comes over all delicate and faints in a feminine manner
In truth, the last time I fainted, I went down like a sack of shit.

BlackForestCake · 07/11/2018 20:00

Not exactly short for magazine. Fanzine was derived from the word magazine when science fiction and then music fans started producing them. Then the subject matter diversified and zines started coming out that weren’t really related to necessarily being a fan of anything, but just found the medium easy and convenient.

LurkingWaspi · 07/11/2018 21:25

Do you think Sandydrawsbadly might have a lovely cartoon in their little zine? I do hope so.
Will do my best to get the Barnsley Lesbian Massif over.
Any ManFriday members can always stop over at Penistone, not too far away.

littlbrowndog · 07/11/2018 22:08

Ofgs lurking don’t do that. You make them all feel unsafe and then they will do wee whiny unsafe faces all over their twitter demanding safe spaces away from the terfy lesbians

Knicknackpaddyflak · 07/11/2018 22:13

Who dangerously say things like 'women have rights too' and 'don't be so silly', and even more dangerously write to MPs with actual facts.

LurkingWaspi · 07/11/2018 22:38

GrinGrinGrin

newtlover · 07/11/2018 23:10

yeah,, I do wonder if any of them manage to engage in more traditional political activity- like-
talking to people they don't actually know
writing to papers
writing to MPs
leafleting
having properly public meetings
or anything really apart from insulting/threatening us on twitter and talking to each other

13thWarriorWitch · 08/11/2018 17:37

I would look utterly terrifying in this get up.
It's definitely tempting Grin

FissionChips · 08/11/2018 19:59

I actually have 2 cans of green hair spray left over from Halloween, dare I? Grin

FissionChips · 08/11/2018 20:00

And blue!

KatVonGulag · 08/11/2018 20:03

It is surprising they focus their hatred on us, given how forcefully other sections of society express themselves on this.

Or maybe it's not really surprising. Just sad and vaguely worrying

13thWarriorWitch · 09/11/2018 10:14

They reserve their hatred for women who won't comply because they know we see them for what they are and they can't stand it.
Or so I believe anyway.

13thWarriorWitch · 09/11/2018 10:16

I don't just mean we know they are men. I mean we see what they are doing and we know why.

Ereshkigal · 09/11/2018 12:01

And blue!

Ooh yes mix it up!
