I thought it was a man until I heard the guest say that they were being a silly woman. I still thought it was a man but a gay man using a self deprecating term.

I heard it and noted that JF's voice got gradually less 'soft' until by the end, sounded like a man's voice.

NB: how many women say of themselves "I'm just being a silly woman"? Way to crowbar it in there for the benefit of the listeners. JF!

That was JF???? I was driving between jobs and missed the top and tail of the piece, but did wonder about the voice! OMG!

So why do they have Jane Fae talking about Brexit?

JF was on as a 'journalist and writer who is stockpiling food because of fears about Brexit'. The item was entirely about food stockpiling because of Brexit.

It was interesting as the perfect example of a Jeremy Vine story: offer up facts, statistics and information about how a hard Brexit might well cause food shortages, then get a load of people phoning or emailing in with purely individual anecdote-based opinions, e.g. 'I think it'll be all right' or "I've been stockpiling food for 30 years and I've got 1400 tins of beans because at some point society will break down''

A lot of it has been coming from Italy. I am sure there is plenty of acrylic stuff from the far east for dragging around studios and performance knitting.

Ah! I too missed the top and tail of the interview because I was driving. Tbh I had a private rant at the radio about why a man (because that’s what I assumed when I heard the voice) was calling himself a “silly old woman” - i thought it was just the equivalent of “throws like a girl” type bobbins.

He (apparently, so he said on air) took a photo of JF holding a tin of Spam. just had a look for it on the BBC website but couldn't find it, sadly.

They talked a lot about being like their grandma which confused me a bit. I guess it’s hard to see a lady brain on the radio!

No idea who Fae is but heard the show and immediately picked up on the voice. Glad she’s got plenty of corned beef.
