Enjoy!

Oh hi Spanna. (aka poster who likes to drop a dubious article and run). Thanks. I did enjoy. Though not enjoy in the way you thought we all should.

And I started to copy and paste to start to debate the points in the article you'd linked.

But then I remembered you just drop and run.

And that the C & P already from others are taking apart and shining a light on the poor arguments that the article puts forward.

So I'll just pop in and thank you for posting yet another shining example of poor debate.

And we'll all sit and wait until Alice, as a woman, experiences all the stuff that brought many of us to the position we're in right now. #

Well, actually, we won't wait. We're mobilising, because we recognise women and girls' rights can't wait.

Alice - we'll be here.

donquixotedelamancha · 05/11/2018 23:45

There is no biological definition of woman that includes all cis women but excludes all trans women, and no biological definition of man that includes all cis men but excludes all trans men.

Shit. Well that's me out of a job then. I do all that study and then apparently they've been lying to me the whole time. Bastards with their 'make empirical observations of the natural world' nonsense. Someone tell all the Biologists, they'll need to get stuff like this changed:

www.biologyreference.com/Ep-Fl/Female-Reproductive-System.html

AngryAttackKittens · 05/11/2018 23:47

One of my best mates from school is a biologist, must remember to tell her to stop classifying organisms by sex. I mean, did she even ask that frog how it feels about its gender?

Datun · 05/11/2018 23:48

I’m a cis woman, and a proud trans-inclusive feminist, and while there are many things in our current world that put me in danger, trans rights absolutely do not.

Spanna - come on. At the very least post something that even marginally supports your argument, not that of feminists.

It's just lazy.

Well...I did fail biology but I'll guess...all women have a vagina? I'm pretty sure that's right. Or is it the amazing ability to see dust? One of those.

VovoBickie · 06/11/2018 00:28

I don't believe in gender, but thanks

doublethink · 06/11/2018 00:36

Dropping a link like this on FWR and then running off is the equivalent of a religious person putting a tract put through my front door hoping to convince me of their dubious beliefs Hmm

alicenuttallbooks.wordpress.com

I'm posting this again because the original link wasn't clickable, or it wasn't for me. Hope this one is.

Charliethefeminist · 06/11/2018 00:47

Transactivists are positing the harvesting of wombs and the absolute erasure of women and elimination of their rights and we are told to enjoy being nice about it. Fuck that shit.

doublethink · 06/11/2018 00:49

Thanks Vegilante, I think it's really helpful for lurkers to read this stuff as it shows up the madness for what it is Smile.

LillyoftheCentralValley · 06/11/2018 01:04

There is another, sadder reason that self-ID has never led to a spike in men pretending to be trans women in order to attack cis women – and that is because abusive men just don’t need to.

Seems to me the blogger isn't being very inclusive of a fetishists, but maybe I'm being ageist by noting the girl is naive.

AngryAttackKittens · 06/11/2018 01:18

I think I'd prefer the paper tracts actually, you can use them to prop up uneven tables and sometimes they have amusing illustrations.

The American version is wild.

DeRigueurMortis · 06/11/2018 02:19

I'm struggling to conceive of the mental displacement of facts/reality and suspension of disbelief anyone would have to embrace to agree with that essay.

It's simply baffling to me how anyone can read such easily refutable drivel and accept the cognitive breaches required to agree with it.

It can either only be aimed at "preaching to the converted" the woke brigade or the impressionably or rather depressingly stupid - though I'm not entirely sure the two groups I cited are necessarily distinct....

PurpleOva · 06/11/2018 06:00

Can I make a correction? Although I didn't do great at science at school either.

There is no definition of women that includes men

Because you know, those are the two opposite sexes. Any cross over are just human stuff and nothing to do with being one sex.or the other.

I didn't actually read the link yet though.

PurpleOva · 06/11/2018 06:10

Ok, reading it now. Got to the bit about being able to talk about your body. So she can, as long as she doesn't mention it is a woman's body? Alrighty then.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 06/11/2018 06:25

i dunno what the point of spannablue is, or rather why she bothers to post

is she trying to change minds?

the people here who have changed my mind did so by talking

dropping a blog that's 2,000 words of thoroughly confused thinking and then fucking off would not change the mind of a concussed guinea pig

GeorgeFayne · 06/11/2018 06:28

Kittens

I honestly think I remember that tract from my childhood! I can't believe it's still in print and available for purchase!

Thank you for the nightmare laugh!

GeorgeFayne · 06/11/2018 06:30

Spanna

If you can define the word "woman" for me, I'll read your link.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 06/11/2018 06:38

I'd love the author of this blog, or Spannablue to tell me how she knows she's a woman

I know because

it says 'female' on my birth certificate
I don't have a penis
I started to grow breasts when I was 10
I have menstruated every month since I was 11 except for 2 18 month periods when I was pregnant or breast feeding
I gestated 2 babies
I'm smaller and weaker than my male contemporaries

If none of those things define being a woman, then please (genuine request for information), how do you define being a woman?

Micke · 06/11/2018 06:52

who want to police what spaces people have access to based on perceived "masculine traits"

is that what we're calling penises now?

merrymouse · 06/11/2018 06:57

and disabled women, and women of colour, and neurodivergent women, and women who do sex work, and all other marginalised women – and also NB people, who I mention not because NB folks are woman-adjacent, but because they don’t have male privilege

The idea that recognising any group of biological women as women is somehow a demonstration of virtue and inclusivity, not just observance of fact, is really very, very nasty.

The stupidity of thinking that being female is a question of identity, not biology “because you let all those [insert name of marginalised group] be women” would be funny if it weren’t so horrible.

TheCountryGirl · 06/11/2018 07:08

I would love to know how such utterly stupid people manage to get through life. These shit for brains idiots that yap TWAW - how the feck do they manage day to day when they are so bloody thick?

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 06/11/2018 07:12

i dunno what the point of spannablue is, or rather why she bothers to post

My understanding is that Spannablue is a man.

neurodivergent women

Is this supposed to mean autistic women? I am autistic and the author does not speak for me.

Transwomen are not women.

Women do not have penises.

Women are adult human females.

Women have XX chromosomes.

merrymouse · 06/11/2018 07:18

Of course some non-binary people are more equal than others and get to be Freemasons like Edward Lord.

Not sure what ‘woman-adjacent’ means? Sitting next to one on a bus?

Gentlygently · 06/11/2018 07:22

I tried. I stopped fairly early on at the ‘transwomen are women’ and more or less equating to disabled women, women of colour, etc.

Given that transwomen start out men, whatever you think they become, I am not going to take anything seriously that states transwomen are women without explaining why.
