Can we talk about WPATH?

The World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) is having a meeting right now.

As an international interdisciplinary, professional organization, the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) will work to further the understanding and treatment of gender dysphoria by professionals in medicine, psychology, law, social work, counseling, psychotherapy, family studies, sociology, anthropology, sexology, speech and voice therapy, and other related fields.

Stephen Whittle, prominent trans activist of Press for Change UK, was the first non-medically trained president of WPATH between 2007-2009

I've had a skim through their symposium agenda, noted a few familiar names, including Susie Green of Mermaids on a Child and Adolescent Panel: Development of Gender; Dilemma’s and Perspectives from a Researcher, a Clinician and a Parent (p 10).

On p 22 is a topic we have discussed on the board before - UTERUS TRANSPLANTATION: THE NEXT FRONTIER OF TRANSGENDER FERTILITY. Vikram Mookerjee, BA; Miguel Dorante, BS; Raman Mehrzad, MD; Daniel Kwan, MD

And I understand Dr Helen and Dr Mike Webberley are presenting posters at this meeting.

The schedule for is linked below. I haven't gone through it in detail, but I found it very interesting to take a look to see what subjects are being talked about, and who is attending.

This OP gives me chills.

LikeDust · 04/11/2018 20:32

This presentation (to an American Christian audience) gives a bit of background to WPATH:

I suppose the wombs for transplantation will be harvested from poor, prostituted, and/or trafficked girls and women.

Radical feminism is strenuously opposed to surrogacy for a reason.

HawkeyeInConfusion · 04/11/2018 21:04

Looking at all those speakers - there are an awful lot of people whose careers depend on transgenderism continuing and growing.

GatheringHerBrows · 04/11/2018 21:04

Yes, where are these uteruses going to come from? This is horrific.

FusionChefGeoff · 04/11/2018 21:07

A growing baby will strip the calcium from its mother's teeth if it needs it.

How's that (and the 432,864 other amazing things that grow a baby) going to happen in a transplanted uterus?!??!!

Candidpeel · 04/11/2018 21:07

Interesting thread from WPATH on the tension between intersex and trans twitter.com/NotRightRuth/status/1059177317078126598

Turkish study 2017

'Could the female-to-male transgender population be donor candidates for uterus transplantation?'
Objective:
To evaluate the eligibility of female-to-male (FtM) transgender people as donor candidates with regard to histologic, surgical, and social aspects.

Materials and Methods:
In this prospective cohort study, 31 FtM transgender people underwent standard hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy for gender reassignment upon their request. The pelvic viscera of the transgender people was intraoperatively observed and the histology of the removed uteri were evaluated for fertility capacity and procurement surgery. A questionnaire was administered to explore their attitude towards uterus donation."

Gender identity is paramount and sex is a social construct and largely irrelevant.

Sex is so irrelevant that we need to harvest wombs from dead women to transplant into men so they can be their authentic selves.

This is fairly terrifying. List of sponsors for previous session

Re: transplants, I don't know what the actual talk contains or how scientifically feasible it would actually be. But it's a topic that's come up on here before, so when I skimmed the symposium programme that specific title jumped out at me!
I would like to find out more about WPATH though. Will take a look at that video. Thanks LikeDust.

Wouldn't they need to be on anti-rejection meds if they had vanity wombs? Seems like that might not be a leap they'd be ready to take, given how egotistical it is in the first place. I'm sure they don't actually think they could gestate. Isn't the idea just to do it so women can't say we're the ones with the uteruses? I really can't visualize them actually undergoing the rigors of pregnancy.

BlackForestCake · 04/11/2018 21:52

Given enough unethical "doctors", some especially deranged transcultist will eventually get a womb harvested from some poor woman and demand to have embryos implanted in it. The inevitable gruesome miscarriage will of course be someone else's fault.

AspieAndProud · 04/11/2018 22:01

It’s not a ‘transplant’ if you are putting it into a body that never had one, it’s an ‘implant’.

HopeGarden · 04/11/2018 22:03

Aren’t there a whole bunch of hormonal changes going on in pregnancy? Is it possible to gestate a healthy baby without all those?

And how would that work without a female endocrine system?

AspieAndProud · 04/11/2018 22:05

In any case, any uterus implanted will have the eggs of the donor. Any children they bear will be the genetic offspring of the donor.

Ereshkigal · 04/11/2018 23:11

LikeDust's video is well worth a watch, it is from a Christian Right Wing source but it's by a guy who was very involved in early trans health. It explains how WPATH have built their reputation.

PerthaBley · 04/11/2018 23:15

The human body is not plug-n-play. This delusion is so incredibly dangerous, in so very many ways.

Ereshkigal · 04/11/2018 23:23

Aren’t there a whole bunch of hormonal changes going on in pregnancy? Is it possible to gestate a healthy baby without all those?

And how would that work without a female endocrine system?

This is the issue that these people don't grasp.

PerthaBley · 04/11/2018 23:29

And it isn't just the mother's body; there's a feedback system between the baby and mother. There's just so much write g with this concept I can't even find a place to start.

PerthaBley · 04/11/2018 23:30

*wrong
