Naomi Firsht in the Times about the erasure of the term woman:

Brilliant article, thanks for the share token. I've not heard of Naomi First. The erasure of women is real, I'm glad people are openly saying so in mainstream publications.

cheesefield · 31/10/2018 06:45

YES!

KatVonGulag · 31/10/2018 06:51

The Times are saying it like it is. Yey!

Spasm0dic · 31/10/2018 07:03

The Times often does.

RhubarbCrumbled · 31/10/2018 07:07

Brilliant article!

Halfeatentoast · 31/10/2018 07:10

Thank you Naomi!

Fantastic. I had my smear reminder yesterday. Thankfully no such nonsense about people with cervixes on there just an edit to call if you are pregnant or transgender. My health board are not tying themselves up in knots... yet

Piccolino2 · 31/10/2018 07:19

What a brilliant article, I'm going to sign up for The Times now, finally someone is talking sense and highlighting these issues!

ZuttZeVootEeVro · 31/10/2018 07:29

I agree with the article.

I don't think the pressure to rename women as menstruators and pregnant people is coming from transmen. To be inclusive, it makes more sense to name transmen in campaigns, so 'women and transmen' instead of people with a cervix.

I think the pressure is coming from those who want female biology not to be associated with women.

bigkidsdidit · 31/10/2018 07:31

It's very very similar to Janice Turner's article of a few weeks ago, isn't it

scepticalwoman · 31/10/2018 07:40

Great article.

I would never have thought that it would be The Times in the vanguard of protecting women's rights in 2018. But here we are. They now have my online subscription instead of the Guardian and I am continually impressed by their campaigning journalism.

BigGreenOlives · 31/10/2018 07:45

Interesting that I couldn’t see comments below the article. Maybe I didn’t look hard enough?

EmpressAdultHumanFemale · 31/10/2018 07:56

I started subscribing to the Times about a year ago for Janice Turner.

It's been well worth it.
