I'm no longer very active in my church. As an organisation it has a strong reputation for equality and a kind of sensible, progressive involvement in social affairs.

It used to have quite an active womens group as well as a separate lesbian and gay group. Now there's a gender diversity group.

It's holding a conference/training day for members of the organisation involved in youth work around gender diversity. The trainers, speakers are a) a transgender teen, b) someone whose Twitter feed describes them as ' bi, polyamorous, butch, trans, genderqueer, geekish' and the National Training Manager for Mermaids.

I've queried it with the organisation who have told me that the event has been organised with 'due diligence'

I am really worried and angry that this religious group is promoting an ideology that may a) mislead young people and b) ultimately damage its reputation.

Am wondering whether to write to the church's youth organiser.

Has anyone else had similar struggles with an organisation? What have they done?

Shit. I massively share your concern. My young relative will be there (I had a hunch & a quick Google confirmed I know what you are talking about).
