I have written to my Tory MP on this issue in the past (over a year ago), and received a bland, meaningless reply which made me feel completely fobbed off. I think this reply is a lot more encouraging:
"I share many of your concerns and those of other people who have raised this with me. This is classic example of needing to balance different people's rights and trying to find a fair balance.
I believe that none of us should face discrimination simply because we are who we are. Dignity and respect should be shown to all, including transgender people. However I agree with you that there could be serious unintended consequences of allowing body males to self-declare, unless sensible and effective safeguards are put in place.
Because of these concerns I previously raised my views on this with the Minister who assured me that both my concerns and those of my constituents will be considered."
