Kellie maloney is talking against self Id, kind of.

They’re a load of simpletons unfortunately.

I'm watching too. And yes Maloney did make some good points.

The interviewer is (unsurprisingly) biased and leading though.

Its 2.5 panellists and an interviewer against one GC voice.

MawkishTwaddle · 28/10/2018 12:21

The point being missed SPECTACULARLY again

yetanotherusernameAgain · 28/10/2018 12:22

BBC1, Sunday Morning Live

Helmetbymidnight · 28/10/2018 12:22

This is a terrible show 😂 my Sonos (radio) isn’t working.

Now Kellie is being a shit.

Just caught the end. Young woman saying that 'the idea of someone who has gone through all the physical and mental trauma of transitioning not being allowed to use a swimming pool is preposterous.'

Baffling that that level of stupid gets airtime.

ShotsFired · 28/10/2018 12:27

Maloney - "The trans umbrella is too wide, it covers too many"

Helmetbymidnight · 28/10/2018 12:27

Unfortunately her stupidity was left unchallenged.

They were a dim bunch, except the journalist. It’s very hard to argue with people like that.

HawkeyeInConfusion · 28/10/2018 12:30

I only caught a few seconds of it. Sounds like I didn't miss anything worthwhile (what a surprise).

DD (8) glanced at it and said 'that woman sounds like a man'.

Then we went back to Ben and Holly.

JulieBindelAteMyHomework · 28/10/2018 12:30

Yet another pointless onesided debate.

Helmetbymidnight · 28/10/2018 12:32

The presenter definitely wasn’t one-sided. Hmm
As for the messages from the public Grin numpties.
I need to get my radio fixed.

KM presumably only wants people like Kellie allowed into the "woman" group.

KM has admitted trying to throttle their wife and exhibited bog standard aggression associated with a certain group on TV.

GenerationEx · 28/10/2018 12:34

Where do they find those handmaidens? They are so strident in their poor reasoning and seem to always have this patronising simpering look on their face while nodding in violent agreement when the transwomen/men are speaking.

It’s almost like being a TRA is a cover for mediocrity these days.

I would have like the journalist to be able to talk more but she was constantly interrupted by the 3 others. Typical BBC biased coverage.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 28/10/2018 12:34

I didn't listen to it that's a guess.

It's infuritaing that essentially we have different groups of transwomen arguing over where the line is with sports, prisons, and so on, women are hardly in the conversation.

ShotsFired · 28/10/2018 12:36

KM certainly exhibited some very masculine shouting down of anyone who disagreed with KM, that's for sure.

The lady on the far left was so desperately trying to nod herself into the TRA good books I thought her head was going to fall off!

Helmetbymidnight · 28/10/2018 12:40

Kellie doesn’t know what she’s on about.

I think she was supposed to be the anti self id side- but got swayed - by the ‘neutral’ presenter.

OP posts:
NaturalBornWoman · 28/10/2018 12:42

Horrific that this is the level of the discussion. The stupidity is breathtaking and why does no one ever challenge it? When Maloney started on the 'I'm female just like you', they should have been challenged on the basis of medical care. The shouty young person going on about it being preposterous that someone would be denied use of a swimming pool after going through 'physical and mental trauma' would have been an ideal opportunity to point out that self ID doesn't require any change at all, no one said anything about swimming pools and does she still think that an adult male who has undergone no change should be welcomed not into the pool but into the changing room and showers with women and girls. The actual point is never ever discussed.

AbsintheFriends · 28/10/2018 12:43

Yes, the message I got from the couple of minutes I saw was that KM wants to decide which non-women get to use women's spaces and the handmaiden had no idea what self-id actually means.

Felt sorry for the intelligent woman journalist.

EGAnderson · 28/10/2018 12:54

I thought KM showed typical male bluster and socialisation talking over the GC women. By contrast, the trans man sat quietly and didn’t interrupt at all.
Funny that?

arranfan · 28/10/2018 13:30

The poor quality of the TV discussion (from the sound of it) highlights the reasonably interesting debate arising out of this thread (so far):

See, I joined twitter a few months ago in a different ID, to discuss Labour politics. I like lefty twitter. I’m happy there. I’m a party member.

I knew nothing about the GRA debate at that point; but did see mentions of transphobia. Naturally, I was against that. (continues)

There is a Threader (below) but I've included the Twitter thread (above) because there's some reasonable dialogue in the comments.
