Currently there is a proposed legislation change in Ireland to include trans'men' and non binary people in abortion laws by referring to women as 'pregnant people'.

So women are no longer called women in LAW to appease a small percentage of women who claim to be men? I honestly cannot sympathise with the women who are involved in this. Why are women with dysphoria getting pregnant anyway? That is the most female thing a woman can do, it is the very essence of woman.

This is taking this movement to its logical end and this is the result. Complete erasure of women in law.

I am fine with trans men getting pregnant. You know why they can get pregnant? Because they are women. Men don't get pregnant.

But I have given up expecting any logical coherence from people.

Utterly ridiculous.

And today we voted on whether we should remove the crime of blasphemy from the constitution whilst our woke brethern are busy creating a shiny new religion against which no blasphemy will be allowed...go figure that one out if you're able!

AspieAndProud · 27/10/2018 00:08

So, either Ireland is over-compensating for being one of the last democracies in the world to legalise abortion by extending the right to include men; or else they can’t bear to grant a right to women that men can’t have too.

Iused2BanOptimist · 27/10/2018 00:19

I agree Swearymum Why should the 99% of pregnant women be offended and insulted because a tiny handful object to being reminded that they are women when the most "womanly" female thing you can do is to get pregnant. It's lucky I don't work as a midwife any more. I'd get sacked and sent to the gulag within five minutes of meeting a pregnant person who wanted to be called a man. 🧐🤯

BettyFloop · 27/10/2018 01:09

Makes no sense at all. Only biological females can become pregnant - however they might "identify" is irrelevant. Human female = ability to gestate - everyone knows this!
Why are the various legislatures apparently colluding with MRA attempts to invisibilise females and dupe entire populations? This is screaming misogyny and we are under attack - as always.

NotMeOhNo · 27/10/2018 01:45

Because these people don't want to connect biology and reproduction to womanhood. They only want pink ruffles and frills to be connected to "female/woman".

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 27/10/2018 02:02

Oh my fucking good god! I have never witnessed such a pile of old shite in my life!!!
Can anyone actually hear themselves when they speak?

Invisible1234 · 27/10/2018 07:17

It's similar to the idea that women who no longer have periods will be offended by an article referring to women when it's about periods impacting on women at work, so the article calls them menstruators instead of women. Women who have been through the menopause know that they are still women and are not offended by discussion around women who still have periods, they can still relate to that time, they are not in denial of it.

Those in power allowed the denial of biological reality to go too far.

Joan Collins TD and Paul Murphy TD. He's become really rude and angry on twitter about it, moaning about the tirade of abuse he's received as if it came out of the blue for no reason. I will never ever ever as long as I live vote for PBP again.

VickyEadie · 27/10/2018 09:51

"Non binary people".

That's women who for some arbitrary reason don't like being called 'women', isn't it?

Juells · 27/10/2018 09:52

...and the rest of us have to lose the word 'woman' as a result.

ohello · 27/10/2018 20:45

So change the word to 'female' and watch them contort themselves into oblivion. Females get pregnant and this includes transmen. Biological males do not gestate babies in their ears or squirt newborns out their nose.

Why is it that all these groups are so willing to change the word woman but they're not willing to change it to a word that the transpeople are unable to argue with? Female includes every type of human who can gestate and birth a baby, so use that.
