Pips Bunce dropped from FT list

Financial Times addresses their omission of Pips Bunce from 2018 OUTstanding list

However, on the version of the list published by the Financial Times, Pips is absent.

Gay Times reached out to the Financial Times for comment, who said: “Our list celebrates 100 LGBT+ leaders who help create inclusive workplaces. Pips Bunce was excluded because of a derogatory comment about women.”

OP posts:
BigotedWoman · 25/10/2018 18:30

Does anyone know what the derogatory comment was?

OlennasWimple · 25/10/2018 18:33

Interesting... The tweet was in September and has now been deleted - wonder if anyone has any screen shots from then (or access to WaveBack)?

rightreckoner · 25/10/2018 18:34

Gordon Bennett. Let’s see Credit Suisse retweet what their top favourite lady employee has said ...

WomanDictionaryDefined · 25/10/2018 18:36

TERF is a slur, thanks to FT for presumably acknowledging that.

WomanDictionaryDefined · 25/10/2018 18:36

What about the other transwomen on the women's list, wasn't there 2 or 3 total?

ProfessoressWoland · 25/10/2018 18:39

Miranda Yardley has a screenshot.

He literally says:

Thank you so much for your loveky responses and for your amazing messages, it's lovely yo know that there are such lovely and supportive folk out there as opposed to sad TERFS - you are all such an asset to society xxxx
WomanDictionaryDefined · 25/10/2018 18:41

xpost!

HamiltonCork · 25/10/2018 18:49

Well done on the FT. Mind you including Pip in the first place was a massive mistake.

FloralBunting · 25/10/2018 18:50

This is disgraceful! Pips Bunce has done so much for LGBT+ inclusion. His work should be celebrated and he certainly should be allowed to defend himself against the relentless attacks against him for his altruism by sad nasty women.

Nah. Can't keep it up, Grin

Fab news.

VickyEadie · 25/10/2018 18:56

Miranda Yardley's piece on Bunce is excellent.

Budgieinaberet · 25/10/2018 18:56

Floral Grin

What about the other transwomen on the women's list, wasn't there 2 or 3 total?

According to an interview with one of the openly trans persons on the list there were ten males in total (themselves included) who were on that top 100 businesswomen list.

And it makes sense that if these aren't prominent people but just names on a list you simply wouldn't know and if there's nothing but a photo, well Photoshop is a favourite as we well know from the many profile pics...

BettyDuMonde · 25/10/2018 19:37

This isn’t the FT 100 Women in Business list, this is the FT 100 LGBT Allies list.

Seems weird that they’ve removed him from the LGBT list for making disparaging remarks about women, but they’ve not removed him from the Women’s list for being a man...

Miranda’s post is very eloquent

donquixotedelamancha · 25/10/2018 20:05

he has, unbelievably not so unbelievably in this mixed-up, muddled-up shook-up world, managed again to penetrate the Top 100 Female Executives

Love Miranda's turn of phrase.

WomanDictionaryDefined · 25/10/2018 20:10

So 10% of top businesswomen today are men.

ResistanceIsNecessary · 25/10/2018 20:15

Good.

I've said it before and will again - if Credit Suisse was sending a delegation out to Saudi Arabia, do you think that 'Pips' would be going in a suit or a dress?

If only all of us could remove our sex class based oppression as easily as taking off a pair of tights.

Needmoresleep · 25/10/2018 20:49

Not just that. I met someone who comes across Pips in his day to day work, ie not when he is doing stunning photoshoots for the Evening Standard. He wears a suit and is a perfectly pleasant man. My friend knew about the occassional cross dressing but was genuinely surprised he had been nominated for a womans award, and shocked he had been consulted on Girl Guide policy. As far as my friend was concerned he presents as a man.

(And sorry MN mods if I have misgendered. It gets confusing.)

Electron1 · 25/10/2018 21:00

He did the same thing last year. He worte something to Paris …, cant remember second name.. saying

"the haters will never amount to anything anyway".

Which I took to mean shut up or your career is over....how else are any female employees in a lavatory in Credit Suisse going to interpret that?

Nice fella

It interesting that it has taken a year for the intimidating misogyny to be recognised when he shared it openly last year too.

Electron1 · 25/10/2018 21:13

Well done to Debbie for picking him up in the tweet. I met Debbie with Miranda in a pub one evening in London, unforgettable evening.

Iused2BanOptimist · 25/10/2018 21:32

I do wonder about Mrs Bunce. We know she is a SAHM. She never seems to get to be his plus one at any of these glamorous events and award ceremonies, although I can understand why she might prefer to stay out of the limelight. I wonder, is she a Surrendered wife of the woke, supporting her husband as he tries on wigs and wonders which nail varnish will best match tomorrow's outfit? I have a vision of her spending her day running to the dry cleaners, tidying the tights drawer, washing make up brushes, taking care of the Lady wardrobe. Because somehow I bet that's a part of being a woman that a director of Credit Suisse is somehow just too busy and important to do.

I hope she's just biding her time, waiting for children to go to university before she cites unreasonable behaviour.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 25/10/2018 21:39

Hmm

Article says pips has been excluded even though she was on the original list.

Phil is not mentioned though. Is he still on one or both lists?

Poor Phil is being sidelined?

adulthumanandtired · 25/10/2018 23:07

If the FT had integrity they would also remove HIM from the businesswomen awards list.
It appears a wrong tweet is enough to lose out on the LGBT award but being the wrong sex doesn’t matter when it comes to stealing awards from women.
