I’ve just seen that this is going to be made into a film.

I think it might provide a much needed opportunity to underscore how being a girl growing into a woman revolves around biology- growing breasts and getting your period are two of the main concerns that 11 year old Margaret has in the book.

Margaret is a terf.

Perhaps they will update it. Margaret will take puberty blockers. Problem solved.

Maybe God will talk back in the film, to tell Margaret that her worries are nothing but cis privilege, which she better keep in check.

I love that book!

I read it when it came out. I am wondering if it stands up to modern expectations?

I bought the book for my stepdaughter a couple of years ago, when she was asking lots of questions about periods.

I really appreciated being able to give her the same book that I had read at her age, when I was asking similar questions.

Ha. As the last girl in my year to get a bra I used to do "I must I must increase my bust" exercises.
