Sexual harassment in the news

The government have released a response to a consultation today, stating sexual harassment in the street will be eradicated by 2030..

This seems like a fairly long time considering around 70% of women report being sexually harassed and at least 34% of girls, whilst wearing their school uniform are also subject to sexual harassment.

The government want to raise awareness this is happening..

Now considering, females are 50% of the population, and the majority are being harassed. It’s not a question of fucking awareness, it’s a question of being taken seriously.

I have been sexually harassed twice today. I was wolf whistled by men in a van on my way into work, who then did a uturn and followed me slowly, shouting sexually explicit comments. A bunch of teenagers shouted out sexual comments re my breasts after work when I was on my way to the shops to buy groceries.

I didn’t report this to the police because I am absolutely normalised now, it happens 2 to 3 times a week, and has occurred for the last 17 years.

I feel a march coming on. There can be no way in this day, after everything that women have gone through, it will take another 12 years to stop absolute misogyny and blatant sexual harassment of women just going to fucking work and the shops!!!!! I.e just living their lives!!!!

I hear you! The whole thing is a total sham when you put it together with their plan to undermine women's rights. How will they even address sexual harassment of women when any man can claim to be a woman? How will they target whatever policy they come up with? At whom if man and woman are now just feelings in someone's head? Will they recommend we all identify out of our sex to end the harassment?

Nothing at all will happen other than that it will get worse. Because the victims are female. And we do not count.

Well when any man can say they are a woman, we will just me at that women are equally guilty of sexually harassing other women and asked what we,as women, plan to do about it.

The trouble is they don't seem to have any concept of how things happen - sociological means and methods. Not putting that very well. They see something going wrong - I suppose we are expected to feel grateful for that after so many millennia of women being treated as public property - and just do a tick-box exercise. Consultations, let's do something about it, make a new law or whatever. As if law has any relevance to people on the street.
And then go RIGHT BACK TO DOING WHATEVER CAUSED THE PROBLEM IN THE FIRST PLACE. Blair was instrumental in driving this disconnect imo.
