Mumsnet being defamed/libelled about Christmas?

Yambabe · 21/10/2018 14:04

I've seen this posted by a friend on facebook today. He says "I got it from a media source, & it's apparently embargoed until midnight tonight as I think it may be hitting national news outlets some time this week. I don't have such reporting restrictions, so here it is." Direct quote.

People (not mutual friends thankfully) are commenting, a few have asked if it's a spoof but most seem to believe it. I've declared that it's absolute bollocks but even so. "Militant feminist forum"? Fuck off!

Besides, if we banned Christmas we'd lose half of AIBU at a stroke because people wouldn't have anything to argue with their families about....... Wink

I'm still varying between amusement and anger here, why are people so very gullible and not engaging their brains these days?

Can you reply to your friend "why on earth are you sharing such obvious utter rubbish?"

BiologyMatters · 21/10/2018 14:09

Funny that a search doesn't show up any posts at all from those two usernames?

VickyEadie · 21/10/2018 14:10

FFS, these people are desperate, aren't they? And not terribly mentally healthy, I think.

TheCrowFromBelow · 21/10/2018 14:10

These two threads are together in my Active feed Grin

Hmm not posted very well
It’s you thread
And underneath a chat thread called
Xmas

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 21/10/2018 14:11

It's not even a good spoof - doesn't capture the Times style at all.

MorrisZapp · 21/10/2018 14:11

I'm sorry your friends have no critical faculties whatsoever.

VickyEadie · 21/10/2018 14:12

I love Xmas. Am completely atheist and feminist.

iklboogiemanunderthebed · 21/10/2018 14:13

That's so obviously made up it's not funny. How do people fall for it?

AdaColeman · 21/10/2018 14:14

Why wasn't this posted in the Christmas topic?

I'm just surprised someone hasn't called for a gender neutral nativity yet. Men can experience immaculate conception too you transphobes!

VickyEadie · 21/10/2018 14:15

Just went and checked what Bunbury has to say about Xmas.

She says "Be sure to put your sprouts on in November."

StarsAndWater · 21/10/2018 14:16

Ha ha. This is the same as those people who get the rage about 'Easter' supposedly being removed from chocolate eggs packaging every year, and yet somehow it never is.

Spasm0dic · 21/10/2018 14:17

Not sure about The Times headline. Pretty sure they get unhappy about people falsely using their name and typeface.

Ereshkigal · 21/10/2018 14:17

Vicky 😁

groundcontroltomontydon · 21/10/2018 14:18

Humans are a waste of opposable thumbs

pastabest · 21/10/2018 14:21

They haven't even bothered to spend enough time here to realise that the mods/staff use their real names

The quote from forum mod 'wonderwomxn1918' gives it away somewhat.

Batteriesallgone · 21/10/2018 14:21

Is it the writing style or the spelling mistakes, that so clearly scream ‘authetic’ to your friends do you think? Grin

Mumsnet is really coming under attack these days isn’t it. Was it Atwood who said men don’t like women talking.

Batteriesallgone · 21/10/2018 14:23

Oh and I realise there’s a spelling mistake in my poorly written post!! Maybe there’s a future for me in poorly composed Facebook histrionics

AspieAndProud · 21/10/2018 14:31

Does this mean we are third in line behind atheists and Muslims - the other two groups supposedly out to stop Christmas?

Or fourth, behind the EU because tinsel is a health and safety risk?

MissBartlettsconscience · 21/10/2018 14:33

It reads more like the Daily Mash tbh.

MaisyPops · 21/10/2018 14:34

Christmas already?
Bloody hell.
I'm still preparing myself for social media claims that Muslims hate Remembrance Sunday and have a conspiracy to murder anyone wearing a poppy.

(Already had the illegal immigrants get more benefits than a pensioner share this week).

VickyEadie · 21/10/2018 14:35

Wasn't it mostly woke councils who were alleged to be out to ban Xmas? 'Winterval' and all that?

Tanith · 21/10/2018 14:41

Trying to decide on an alternative to Turkey. None of our family likes it.

MaisyPops · 21/10/2018 14:42

Between woke councils and prisons serving 5* Christmas dinners whilst pensioners starve, it's no wonder Britain ain't what it used to be. Grin
