It is clear that the media that women want is just not out there. We don’t have any serious news, documentaries, debate and discussion that has intelligent, well informed women. In other words, the audience is there in spades but there is absolutely no content. What we need is a company that could make the material and sell it to whoever, tv companies, Netflix, Amazon Prime etc.

It has just become a huge frustration for me that even the smallest crumb of so-called hard news that has women’s issue is laughably and woefully reaserched. The creators of this stuff literally do not have a clue. They therefore are missing the entire story.

I was just listening to the News at One clip with Debbie Hayton, well I couldn’t listen until the end because it was so abysmal. Debbie was excellent but the absolute joke of claiming that they were going to discuss how women would be affected and there was not 1 biological woman in the discussion and of course the presenter was a man!!! It just summed up the whole insanity. Still in 2018, 50% of the population are unrepresented and literally absent.

We need to make it ourselves. The first thing I really want is a weekly talk show where a group of incredible women (easy to find) sit and discuss contemporary topics. Simple, but we NEVER get it. I want to hear women”s POV on everything and I don’t want 1 token woman who is constantly interrupted. No men and no pseudo women, only people who were born a girl.

It's a great idea - we badly need a production company that can tell the difference between the sexes

Beamur · 20/10/2018 10:17

Totally.

We have a fledgling podcast and need content! We would definitely support a radfem YouTube channel.

Totally agree.

Fuck the pale stale male that silences us.

Count me in. The last few months have been a bitter lesson in how necessary it is to gather your news from a wide range of sources and critically evaluate it yourself. My previous - lazy - go to media outlets (talking about you BBC and Guardian) have shown their bias against women. Sadly for them we have long memories.

Can I just say I am on the other side of the world recovering from a serious illness and have absolutely no connections with anyone in production of any kind Grin I am just WILLING this to happen. And it has to, the need is so obvious and so great.

Long shot but are there any fellow writers out there who might fancy doing some short satire pieces? Writing is my day job at the moment though I've never come close to comedy before! This whole thing is crying out for some GC satire though. Also happy to help in other ways :-)

There was another thread about 6 months ago with this exact idea. It's something many of us want to do. You're not alone!

I think it got as far as yes brilliant but no one really knew practically speaking how to set it up.

I think a crowd-funder would be sucessful, to hire equipment, a studio (if needed) and vehicles for travelling to location but obviously only after concrete ideas and plans are in place as to what will be produced...
