Trans activists smoke bomb protest the metro

@jimwaterson
Trans activists have set off smoke bombs outside the entrance to Northcliffe House, HQ of the Daily Mail/Metro/Independent. Unclear if they're protesting against the Mail - or the Metro taking the advert last week - but staff leaving by side entrance.

Consensus seems to be they're protesting against The Metro, which took an anti-trans ad last week. Unfortunately Metro print edition staff don't work Fridays. (The entirely separate Metro website has also had some trouble over the sister paper taking the ad, apparently.)

This is all unraveling

StealthNinjaMum · 19/10/2018 19:16

Gncq I know 'Let's slag off Metro for covering a trans woman who sexually abused women in prison but not have an opinion on the transwoman!'

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 19/10/2018 19:18

They have no clue how brutal the British press can be....

Ereshkigal · 19/10/2018 19:18

I hope they go to town on this.

DereksSexyPyjamas · 19/10/2018 19:20

The Mail. The fucking MAIL. smh

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 19/10/2018 19:21

How stupid can you be, every time the TRA's do something it makes them look worse and worse.

JoanSummers · 19/10/2018 19:22

Amazed they haven't branded themselves neo-suffragettes given how much they like to appropriate the female.

:D

I can see them, Joan

NotAnotherJaffaCake · 19/10/2018 19:23

I thought the Canary was an alt-right rag? Either way I wouldn't trust it at all.

But I am pretty sure a smoke bomb in a public place is fairly close to terrorism.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 19/10/2018 19:28

How do you screenshot Twitter on an android?

Theswaggyotter · 19/10/2018 19:30

I wonder if the bbc will cover this....can’t imagine any other group being allowed to get away with this kind of aggressive behaviour. If they do cover it they will likely be pushing ‘both sides are as bad as each other’ which seems to be the main thrust of any bbc coverage of trans issues Hmm

Ereshkigal · 19/10/2018 19:31

No the Canary is a left wing rag.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 19/10/2018 19:31

Press power and volume down at the same time on my phone

bitheby · 19/10/2018 19:31

Seen a video now - I'm a bit confused by what looks like a banner advertising Tesco FreeFrom products, and a bloke wearing a dress made of the same material?

I really needed a good laugh after spending 4 hours doing the GRA consultation.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 19/10/2018 19:33

Of course setting off flares/smoke bombs in central London is terrorism. And they're attacking newspapers, ffs. Which is not going to go down well with anyone. The press will rip them a new one, and erstwhile influential allies who fear for their reputations will start backing away.

Gncq · 19/10/2018 19:42

branded themselves neo-suffragettes
They have been doing this for a long while.

AspieAndProud · 19/10/2018 19:42

India Willoughby on Twitter just now:
"Well what do you know. It’s like a scene from #TheBodyguard. Deadline seeking views on Gender Reform due to close Fri midnight. Hour ago Gov extend deadline to Mon. No explanation. Low and behold “Trans” activists smokebomb attack on Daily Mail. Stinks #GRA GMB"

Clever of feminists to carry out this ‘false flag’ operation at exactly same time and place the TRAs had proposed to protest on Facebook.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 19/10/2018 19:45

ItsAllGoingToBeFine thanks for the suggestion but it doesn't work. I'll have to ask DS2.

Gncq · 19/10/2018 19:46

Someone upthread predicted they would be mad enough to say it was feminists posing as TRA Haa oh my gosh...

picklemepumpkin · 19/10/2018 19:50

They're disputing that it's violence- just people dancing and smiling apparently. Meanwhile people feel unable to get in and out, and the smell of smoke has spread through the building.

Obstruction, preventing people's freedom to move, is aggressive.

MrsFogi · 19/10/2018 19:50

Hopefully we will see some journalists in the mainstream press talking a bit more about how the TRAs have been trying to silence debate on this issue.

FermatsTheorem · 19/10/2018 19:51

And these are the men I'm supposed to feel comfortable showering next to? Hmm
