This is the type of article which should have been posted months.

Well worth a read.

I agree. And fascinating to see the different perspectives from different lawyers. Surely Steven Whittle cannot believe what he writes? If someone gets a GRC then they are counted in data as a woman, so how would we know if there are problems? Or am I missing something?

@1954stephen

Apologies for the direct tag (it's considered a bit rude here)

Could you reference the source for your statement that only 2 holders of GRCs have been prosecuted for sexual assault in the past 12 years?

It's this type of data which could alleviate concerns. I can't find it because everything I've read says MtoF holders of GRCS are legally classed as female so will be "hidden" within the statistics for female offences

Can I ask why also the 12 year period? Is it because that's the year the convicted attempted racist won the right to be transferred to the female estate?

Finally, I am surprised that you compared to the cohort of 5000 random men. You must know that the number of transwomen holders of GRCs is somewhere of the region of 3k. Also again I would really like to know the stats which tell you that 20 men out of 5000 over a 12 year period could be expected to convicted of sexual assault (it seems rather high)

Thanks!

Yes, those legal views cover a range of perspectives. I can see a lively discussion between women here about the merits of each option voiced.

Dr Nic, correcting Whittle’s statistics.

I was interested that no one discussed the issues around minors transitioning. I think that is a bomb that is going to go off in the next 20 years.
